I don’t mean to sound self-centered, but I hope that at my funeral, whoever delivers the eulogy will talk about me, and not their or my political enemies. It’s not much to ask, but frankly, I’d like to believe there’s more to me than the people I’ve had feuds with.
Not since the Paul Wellstone funeral have I been so disgusted at the gross politicization of a memorial service. Wellstone, you might remember, was the U.S. senator who died in a plane crash in 2002 less than two weeks before the midterm elections. In an effort to save the seat, Walter Mondale was selected to run, and the funeral services for Wellstone turned into a grossly inappropriate campaign rally.
The past couple of days have brought the memory of that shameful memorial service back to the front of my mind.
I never expected this to happen at the funeral services for John McCain. When he barred President Trump from attending his funeral it may have been petty, but understandable. But, it seems now that the move merely gave those delivering eulogies the opening to bluntly attack President Trump.
The saddest part was that John McCain’s daughter Meghan used a moment in her eulogy to bluntly attack Trump.

I feel badly for Meghan McCain. Anyone losing a parent can understand their grief. However, she was completely inappropriate in her eulogy. She reminded me of what little Russell on the Cosby kids cartoon used to say about Rudy. She was like the School House at 5:00 PM..... no class.
She should have used her time to memorialize her fathers life, not have the highlight of her speech be an attack on the President. What has she done in her life to be the moral arbiter of what’s right and wrong? If her name was Meghan Smith, would anyone really care what she has to say?
Personally, I think it's a tenuous link; there wasn't any coordination between the two funerals. I'd be more comfortable isolating the McCain funeral, and using it to "J'Accuse…!" the swamp of Vichy Republicans.

Gotta admit - the press knows how to ‘protect their own’ while lying to the American People... they should win the award.

Ivanka's a graceful elegant woman... she did the right thing sitting through the insults. History is on her side...
Sarah Huckabee Sandersn did the right thing sitting through the abuse at the Press Correspondents Dinner too... That said, both women might want to consider skipping hate-feast put on by corrupt liberal 'elites' in the future.
