A new NHS-backed treatment could dramatically improve the day-to-day lives of people plagued by severe asthma attacks and who require regular trips to A&E.
The new procedure involves a tiny probe that resembles an egg whisk being inserted into the lungs. This emits heat that shrinks scarred, thickened lung tissue, and aids breathing....{snip}
...studies showed it reduced emergency hospital admissions for life-threatening asthma attacks by 55 per cent and that benefits continue for ten years...

Is this procedure being done stateside?
The enzyme serra peptase can do the same thing for thousands less. Actually probably a better job.
Silkworm juice :-)
That’s actually the natural source for serra peptase
Yup. Its great stuff.
great, now I’m gonna have to get asthma just so i can have the4 procedure-
For reference - for a friend. Thanks for posting. ;-)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Next you’ll be telling me Byetta is Gila monster spit...
If the company that originally marketed it, pulled it from the market, it’s questionable enough that nobody is clamoring for grant money over it:

Please!
Great ripoff
I think the source of the serrapeptase in vitamins is “non-animal, proteolytic enzyme derived from a controlled fermentation of the cacterial strain Serratia spp. Each capsule is enteric coated, which helps it survive the stomach acid and pass into the small intestine.”
Got that from Amazon Solaray serrapeptase description. I’ve seen that in other vitamins as well, like MegaFood (fermentation strains I mean). People gave it a good review.
In the "inner city" asthma is at near epidemic levels (don't know about suburbia or rural areas). The overwhelming majority of asthma patients we saw were released after a few hours of treatment.Occasionally one would be admitted to our general medical floors (not the ICU).I only heard of one of our "regulars" having died...and I'm not certain that asthma was even her cause of death.
I don't know what's going on in Britain but it sure doesn't resemble what *we* saw.
I use it instead of ibuprofen for workout pain next morning. It works better without any side effects or damage to liver. My alleviated pain does not care about double blind studies.
May prevent amyloid plaque buildup as well.
Reason enough right there for establishment big pharma to fake studies about plant based serrapeprase supplements.
Thanks - this could be good info for me, spending 100+ dollars a month (with medicare) for a Breo inhaler to keep my inflammation in check. Going to try this supplement.
Asthma Ping.
Although i work ancillary.. i agree. The we are all gonna die stuff is getting old, and the pricetag for exotic treatment is truly denying basic healthcare. Yeah, here is an antivial for the flu, no its not gonna make you live years longer. People want it.
Inner city kids, huh.. was it lack of parental care or breathing in steamy piles of trash? Kudos to the inner city ed workers.. tough racket, but wow.. who could make more of a difference.
I recall some of these asthma issues were from cockroach allergies.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
does this work for COPD too?
For later.....
A medical doctor-—not a wacko-—tells asthma patients that the caffeine in brewed coffee (MUST BE BREWED) has a similar molecular structure as medication in inhalers.
Sipping brewed coffee has helped the breathing of some asthmatics.
