Alas, as it was, it seemed utterly frightening to allow Al Gore to become President. Especially my being a Tennessean, knowing him too well and finding him as viscerally repugnant as could be - and giving him the reins of power and to be able to appoint judges... just unimaginable.
Unfortunately, there was no real outsider in that race to go for. Dear Saint Juan of McQueeg tried to pretend that he was one early on in the primary, but we already knew what a fake he was. That stunt in the Michigan primary he pulled in having thousands of Detroit voters that were all Democrats try to “win” him the nomination was evidence of how corrupt he was - enough to make Shrub look like the savior of the country.
As we know now nearly two decades hence, all political show, all Kabuki theater. I’m sure they were having a great big guffaw behind our backs at this circus. Not even P.T. Barnum could give us a show like these guys could, right up to McQueeg’s epic “national weaks (sic) of mourning” for the great fallen political leader. Yup, kids, the joke was definitely on us. Alas, the Good Lord will not permit us a ringside seat for the judgment of the distinguished Sinator (sic) from Arizona, or for all the others complicit in this corrupt bargain in selling out our nation for power.
I try to think of my own moments before the Judgement Seat, and realize there are errors I’ve made.
That’s why I really want to cut McCain some slack. The problem is, he was a disgusting jerk to the bitter end.
Maybe his relationship with his family was decent, but seeing his outward appearances especially to Cindy when he called her a “C” in public, I don’t know how that could be true.
His fixation on Trump, was just childlike.
The man must have been a real bundle of joy for the family to deal with.
This is why God is the final judge. I think I’d probably be a lot more harsh than Him. I take it he is a just God.
He will do right by us.
