Why you see so many Beto O’Rourke yard signs, and so few for Ted Cruz
Houston Chronicle ^ | August 31, 2018 | Julian Gill

The reason for the flood of "Beto" yard signs supporting U.S. senatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke may go beyond the El Paso Democrat's popularity among his base.

O'Rourke's signs litter yards across the state, while signs for his opponent Senator Ted Cruz appear much harder to come by.

Cruz's campaign manager, Jeff Roe, told the Texas Tribune this week that he has an overall aversion to campaign yard signs because they're ineffective. He said he prefers to spend money on other advertisements, such as direct mail, door knocking, phone banks and television ads.

"It would be an easier campaign to win if we just used yard signs, and whoever wins is who puts up the most yard signs," Jeff Roe told The Tribune.

The reason that Beto and other democrat signs are up in The Woodlands, TX is because it is illegal to post campaign signs until 30 days before the election and republicans mostly obey the law.

I ran 5 political campaigns, won 4 of them. Signs don’t vote. They are great for the ego, nothing else.

Yes. Phone banked/volunteered for him, previously.

The reason I listed the other activities is because that’s what Jeff Roe, his campaign manager, said they’d be doing. So, you might want to send your message (detailing why those things don’t work), to him.

I agree that the dems/crazed leftists dirty tricks will (hopefully) be the cause of their own demise.

I think they’re right. I’ve NEVER been persuaded by a yard sign. It tells me more about the property owner than the candidate. It may appeal to those who are easily influenced and want to belong to the group believed to be popular (sadly a significantly sized group), but those are the same type of people that often don’t vote.

Beto seems to have a catchy campaign, but in the end, Texans needs to be reminded that he would vote the same as Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Chuck Schumer.

If Cruz gets that message out, he will be fine.

Believe it or not, someone in North Central Austin vandalized this poor Liberal's Beto sign! Saw this on Nextdoor and has to post.

BTW, Beto signs are being given away all over Austin. Seeing them makes me sick...

I saw very few Trump signs in 2016. Very few. We all know how that turned out.

In my county, which went to Hillary by a significant margin, there were almost no yard signs or bumper stickers for either candidate. There were more for John Kerry in 2004.

Kinda sad that the only thing to bash Beto with is his name. Is he that good on issues? Must be since several FREEPERS seem to be concentrating on this issue.

Well, I know a Democratic candidate is mad that Beto hasn’t helped other Democratic candidates running.

That’s interesting. I am glad Scott will pull DeSantis across the line in Florida. Thank God for Governor Scott.

I think it is meant as an insult, the Spanish equivalent of “whitey”.
