I agree with you completely. People see it as a magic wand but there is no such thing as magic. We can make all the structural changes to our government that we want and it won't help anything as long as the people elected to run it are a a$$clowns.

And there is little reason to presuppose that such a convention would get up to anything good. Worst case libs could hijack it and pass bad amendments. Plenty of lib jagoffs are among the voices calling for this. James Madison himself was concerned with Article V's complete lack of details as to how this convention would operate and suggested jettisoning the idea.

Even a no brainer "good" amendment like the Balanced Budget amendment that could probably pass, I fear would just be used as an excuse to raise taxes.

The biggest problem we have in this country is that one of the 2 major political parties is dedicated to it's destruction and has a dedicated voter base of gibmedats. There is no procedural remedy for that.

At the founding, this was never supposed to happen because the parasite class didn't participate in politics. Of course, there really wasn't such a class, since in 1789, if you didn't work, you didn't eat.

You’ve seen my responses to the assertions of our need for a Convention of States (COC). A COC is akin to tariffs in the sense that is APPEARS we’re doing something about a problem when in fact we are not.

Yes, of course something like repealing the 17th Amendment would be helpful. But in the overall scheme of things the 17th Amendment is low priority compared to the fact that 80% of the federal government is unconstitutional and so far the people, and the states, let alone the feds themselves, seem unwilling to do what REALLY needs to be done: ENFORCE THE FREAKING CONSTITUTION and dismantle the unconstitutional 80% ($3 trillion +) portion of the feds.

The Right needs to get something straight. We will NEVER MAGA until our Free Constitutional Republic is restored. We MUST NOT settle for anything less.

So what’s it going to take to RESTORE OUR FREE CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, wrenching our beloved country from the hands of the Lying Leftist Tyrants?

Politically and legally, three things must happen:

1) ABOLISH THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDS. Dismantling the unconstitutional 80% portion of the $4 trillion federal government, sending hundreds of thousands of government officials, bureaucratic heads, and government workers home packing without a job. They’ve leeched off of the hard work of the rest of us long enough. Don’t worry about them - there will be plenty of opportunities as the economy launches into the stratosphere like never before.

2) CONSTITUTIONALLY LIMIT THE POWER OF THE SUPREME COURT. Stop allowing Supreme Court decisions to be the law of the land. There is only ONE constitutionally authorized legislative body: Congress. (U.S. Const, art. I, sec. 1). The scope and legitimacy of the power of Supreme Court decisions are limited to

a) CONSTITUTIONALLY-BASED DECISIONS. Decisions based on the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended. Unconstitutional Supreme Court decisions are invalid (id. art. VI, cl. 2) and should be rejected, nullified, overturned or ignored by the states and the other two branches of the federal government.

b) AUTHORITY ONLY OVER THE PARTIES OF THE CASE. If the rationale of the decision is based on the Constitution, the effect of the decision reaches only to the parties of Individual Cases and Controversies before the Court and any other cases with the same questions of law and fact (id. art. III, sec. 2). No Supreme Court decision is national law. It is up to Congress and Congress ONLY, to legislate the constitutional laws of the land (id. art. I, sec. 1).

3) EXERCISE OF STATE SOVEREIGNTY. States need to become financially independent of the central government as they were when we declared our Independence in 1776. Outside constitutional limitations, the states are sovereign and the people of each state need to elect representative who exercise their sovereignty and constitutional independence from the feds.

The unconstitutional 80% of the alphabet soup of federal departments, agencies, and bureaucracies MUST to be nuked. The list is below:

Unconstitutional Cabinet Bureaucracies:

Department of Health and Human Services ($1 TRILLION budget!!!)
Department of Energy
Department of Education
Department of Labor
Department of Agriculture
Department of Commerce
Department of Housing and Urban Development
Department of Transportation

All 67 agencies and bureaucracies of the unconstitutional fourth-branch fiefdom of the Independent Federal Administrative and Regulatory System, including:

EPA
FCC
FTC
SBA (Small Business Administration)

And a reminder of what that means, It means sending hundreds of thousands of government officials, bureaucratic heads, and government workers home packing without a job. THAT is going to take more than Trump, a Trump successor, and the American People. It will take the Divine Providence of God Almighty who I believe is here, like he was in 1776 with our Founders, to help us do that miraculous task, Trump’s “impossible” election being pretty clear evidence of God’s help here.

Correct, Impy.

The question I keep coming back to with the Con of States is, “You haven’t been able to control your congressmen, your senators, most of your presidents, most of your state legislators to keep them from doing what you don’t want . . .

why in the world would this be different?” You think the Deep State wouldn’t rig the ConStates exactly as it rigged Cankles’ nomination? Or load it up they way the GOP did in 1996, 2008, 2012? I just don’t ever believe in a “system” that will give you the “right man/woman.” You begin with the right man/woman and get him/her elected.
