Without Palin, I doubt know how well Trump would've done. Trump's approach could be considered "Going Rogue" by the usual standards.
Then again, I think the only thing that might've prevented a Trump presidency would've been a Romney victory in 2012 -- in which case, we'd have seen Romney-Clinton in 2016.
