That figure is far too low! Particularly for those who “work off the books” and don’t pay US Income Taxes. When these pinche chilons show up to send their ill-earned money home, the remitting agency should be required by Federal Tax Law, to have 50% of the remittance withheld and forwarded to the IRS. To those who somehow have a TIN, take at least 10% and report the transaction to the IRS. I’d set up a group of agents within the IRS to “visit” local Mexican Markets, where the bulk of the remittances are transacted, and “review their records.”
