This is not conservatism. Create and grow competition. If the big companies crush the competition, then there is anti-Trust litigation. But in the first instance, just take your personal data and opinions to a different forum.

Full disclosure: I hate! f$#@king Facebook! I can only stand so much social media or talkative, cheerful people in real life. I tried twittering, but got bored very fast. Peace and quiet and a good book are more interesting.

This petition would destroy Free Republic

A.). Free Republic is a forum, not a platform. There's a significant difference between the two, including that platforms are afforded protections under the DMCA that other websites are not.

B.) Would the ability for liberals to post here really destroy Free Republic? Let them! They could bring their lefty talking points over here and see them crushed. Personally, I think it would be fun. That's activism! We might convert more people to our side than we'd lose. Echo chambers can get kinda boring.

And what is your plan to save us if that doesn't actually work? Google can hire a thousand lawyers to keep this tied up past the time we have a Committee of Public Safety leading us to the guillotine.

I just received this in a newsletter. What they’re doing with our emails isn’t just for advertising, IMO.

From the link above:

“Remember that email you sent that was meant to be read just by the person you sent it to? It might have been a joke that was not meant for anyone else or perhaps contained some details that were private and not meant for different eyes. It could also have been innocuous but really, it didn’t matter. The only person who was reading it was the one it was sent to and unless they shared it with someone else there was nothing to worry about. Well, it turns out that’s not entirely true.”

The government has lawyers, too, and they would be involved in anti-Trust, if it came to that. And even with a hostile press, when Trump does something, it’s in the news and in the public eye. Prosecution under Sherman against Twitter, Facebook and Google would be big news.

AT&T had a thousand lawyers. So did Microsoft and Standard Oil. And they were forcibly split up.

But the first conservative line of attack is competition, not government interference in the market.

I agree. They ‘might’ actually have to think and might learn something. Many liberals have been converted after having been exposed to critical thinking. That is why lib leaders try so hard to silence us.

Thank each and every one of you who care enough to do something to preserve our free republic.

If we don’t LOUDLY raise Cain about being censored, the left will only get stronger til it’s entirely too late.

1A, 2A, 4A gone for good.

I would argue that Twitter, Facebook, etc., are PUBLIC UTILITIES used by an overwhelming majority of citizens for mass communication, not all that unlike telecommunication companies and their phone services.

Twitter and Facebook are publicly traded companies, and I would think that only reinforces my view they are either subject to free speech regulations OR PUT THEIR CENSORSHIP PRACTICES UP TO A VOTE BY THEIR SHAREHOLDERS!!!

Twitter and Facebook's censorship practices are analogous to a phone company breaking into your line and terminating your connection BECAUSE THEY DON'T AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING!

I went a step further, I sent to “Contact the White House” my idea of “Fake Searches” ...I told PDJT team to run with it; it is easy to understand, relate to, and insults and attacks Google, Twitter, etc.

“Fake Searches”.

If PDJT says this, I will walk on clouds for days.

Many liberals have been converted after having been exposed to critical thinking. That is why lib leaders try so hard to silence us.

Over at DU they enforce a couple of rules to ensure that liberal doctrinaire is not challenged. I know this because I lurk over there from time to time. One rule is "don't bash Democratic public figures." If someone were to post something like, "Hillary Clinton's campaign was handicapped by her general untrustworthiness and whiff of corruption that has always surrounded the Clintons" this post would be flagged and removed for violating the previous rule.

A second rule is "don't post Republican talking points." So something like, "The Mueller investigation is failing to find any evidence of Russian collusion and at this time appears to be fishing for process crimes" would again be flagged and removed for violating rules.

The funny thing is both comments are perfectly reasonable and true but they must be removed because there is no defense against them. DU utilizes these two rules as "catch-alls" to ensure liberal ideas go unchallenged and people aren't exposed to criticism. Liberalism CANNOT stand up to scrutiny! It falls apart always. That's why DU enforces these rules to squash criticism and this is why Twitter is kicking off conservatives one after the next.

Personally, I think it would be great if Jim let DUers post over here. Without the protection of their safe spaces and rules prohibiting debate, they'd see their ideas get challenged and dissected.

It’s not a market, it is a cartel.

The biggest cartel is the government. If you don’t like facebook, you don’t have to be on facebook. If you don’t like twitter, you can leave twitter. But if the government is in your face, you have to financially support it, and you cannot argue with a policeman, even if he’s abusing his power. The only thing you can do is move to a different country, and that one has a government, too.

Ergo, government intervention is never Plan A, might even be Plan Z. So try to go to competitors who will not shadow ban you or censor you, and give you services, such as stupid games, e-mail and movie previews, while repeatedly selling your personal data without your express permission.

The biggest cartel is the government.

That one we have to tolerate. The last thing we need is another one, and we should use the power of government to destroy any other cartel that has pretension of manipulating elections by destroying public speech.
