The White House on Monday afternoon re-lowered its flags to half staff after drawing significant backlash for returning them to full staff less than 48 hours after the death of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
Multiple reporters noted on social media that the flags were flying at half staff once again. The White House did not immediately respond to questions for comment on why the change was made.

They hated the flag yesterday
The American Legion is one of the complainers now.
They carry a lot of voter influence. The President’s point has already been made though. It’s not worth a drawn out battle over what is for most a phony outrage.
Let’s move on. We have a deal with Mexico about to be tied up and completed. We have a surge in the stock markets too. Plenty other fish to be fried.
Be sure to spread the word on who McCain REALLY was
Half staff or not, he was a snake and people need to know that

McCain did nothing during his Senate career other than being a media darling.

The President got a twofer on the flag deal--a zinger for the McCain crowd and a bow to the veteran groups in respecting their requests.

She’d be fun to look at and would drive liberals to level 10 ballistic ... but, yeah, I agree. Once my primary brain takes over, I have to agree :-).
If they amended it, they should have left it half staff. Face it, there was a lot of backlash including from the American Legion. It was pure cave.
