You should have seen ARKAN-SAW back sixty years ago. When we were dragged here, kicking and screaming, from the Rocky Mountains, we found everyone in our school class was kin to everyone else in school by blood or marriage. WE were the outsiders.

Same 40 years ago in the hills of SW Wisconsin. Even today, after 2 waves of hippie invasion and with ‘mixed’ grandchildren accepted by the old guard, we call the originals “local locals”.
Friend of mine’s father, 70 years ago, was told (after 3 kids and maybe 10-15 years here (Dad is 97):”You’re ok for an outsider.”
I have some good local local friends. Took them almost 30 years to accept us, but it was worth it. Some very good folks.
