A little deeper down in the story. Last year people were sprayed with acid! Police will be carrying water and acid detecting kits. Also metal detectors because of fear of knife attacks. You know, this sounds like a really fun event. Pity I’m a quarter of a world away from it.

Just a couple days ago I walked through that area, from Ladbroke Grove underground station, heart of the festival, down Portobello Road (shadow of its former world class antique market) to past Notting Hill underground station. At Ladbroke Grove, I saw about six police questioning black yutes pretty seriously. Beautiful buildings that need new occupants, it doesnt help that Im reading an e-book Murder in Notting Hill that made me realize the neighborhood isnt as it appears on the outside.
