I have asked Secretary of State @SecPompeo to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers. South African Government is now seizing land from white farmers. @TuckerCarlson @FoxNews
President Trump, in a tweet, Aug. 22, 2018
Its not the first time a segment on Fox News gets the president tweeting. But its the first time Trump claims South African farmers are being mass-murdered.
This myth was fueled by white supremacists for years before it surfaced in a presidential tweet.
More than two decades after the end of apartheid, South African farmland owners remain a predominantly white group. Fringe groups in South Africa and the United States say these white farmers are targeted and killed at disproportionately high rates. Theres no evidence for this claim, experts say, but it feeds the white-supremacist agenda by stoking racial resentment and division.
Trump made two claims about South Africa in his tweet: that the government is seizing land from white farmers and that a large scale killing of farmers is underway.
The presidents first claim about land seizures has some merit but is mostly false. Trumps second claim, that South African farmers are being killed on a large scale, is a fiction not supported by data.
We have no clue how this myth about farmers being killed ended up on the presidents Twitter feed. It didnt come up on Tucker Carlson Tonight, the Fox News show Trump referenced in his tweet. But it has been swishing in the alt-right and white-nationalist ether for years. The Fox News segment may have jogged Trumps memory about something he came across previously.

Contrast this with a few people unjustly killed by the cops in America, and it is an national emergency with people rioting in the streets.
I guess wapo is calling abcnews fake news, too.
It is good that the CIA has registered their opinion.
They dont want Mr. and Mrs. Smith or 14 year old Billy in flyover to figure out South Africa is the model and they have every intention of repeating it all over the world.
Hm, they also laughed when he said there were riots in Sweden
Who are you going to believe? Salvador Rizzo and the Washington Post or the President of the United States. It’s a no brainer for me.
Sure just like black crime and crimes committed by illegals is not really an issue and a very rare.
I have seen the farmers say this in their own words where family members were killed and the farmer showed their own bullet wounds.
Oh by the way, many of them say they aren’t allowed to have guns that would allow them to defend against these attackers.
They are outnumbered, outgunned, and police take hours to respond. The politicians there just don’t care.
The media all said Trump was crazy when he said he had been wiretapped by obama. At first they denied it. Now they not only admit the surveillance but excuse it.
Bingo
If its not fact its prophecy.

Murder of white farmers is rampant and increasing in South Africa
Nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition.
And nobody expects real news from the WaPo collection O’Clowns.
They have been raping white women at a phenomenal rate for decades. The farmers are being raped, robbed, assaulted, murdered and now dispossessed. A terribly violent society including black on black.
The comments are interesting - mostly calling WAPO out for lying.
“We live in Orwellian times. The facts in South Africa do not fit the hate Trump narrative of the propagandist Washington Post.”
I don’t believe in this case it is so much Trump hatred as White hatred. Now, if Trump comes out in support of the Afrikaners, he will of course be a white supremacist.
Just a quick trip to youtube gives a much better description of what’s going on over there.
If there were a large scale killing of Washington Post writers, would the author’s replacement’s approach be in similar denial of reality?
Yes! I heard on the radio that the killing of farmers is down from 60 last year to only 47 this year! ... now that’s progress ... But hat statistic is obviously false since no farmers are being killed in the US for their land, right?
My wife is from SA and returns annually for a month or two visit. Sorry WP but she has far more credibility than you do. You do nothing but prop up obammy marxists with your outright drivel. America could do with less of you and more facts. But we all know your fake news BS will continue to inflict damage on American ideals until your end.
How about you abandon the public square and return to your hole?
