Before Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, the Warners animation division put out five Spooney Melodies cartoons featuring the singing organist Milton Charles and some very strange, primitive kaleidoscopic imagery. If youve watched the reboot of Twin Peaks on Showtime, you can see the influence of this film on David Lynch. This is the only Spooney cartoon that has survived; its prime purpose was to popularize the song and the Warners movie musical.
