“Nonsmoker’s don’t realize how badly it smells. “

Then either you have never smelled a fine cigar or pipe tobacco or else you have a democrat sense of smell. Cigarettes are another story,

In public housing I couldn’t care less what your habits are except those that cause damage and discomfort to others including smoking. That means smoking anything including pot. I don’t have to smell your sugar or fat consumption nor does that render the housing uninhabitable for those coming after you that don’t share your particular habit. Don’t like it? Get your own place.

Not to worry. Some activist judge will declare this to be unconstitutional. But there’s a lesson to learned here. When you suckle at the government teat, the government makes the rules.

“The point is simply this. Ban smoking in public housing.”

Why? Because you don’t like smoking?

“If Medicaid stopped treating smokers it would have to stop treating people with other poor lifestyle choices.
It will never happen.”

You mean like how the British NHS won’t treat smokers, drunks, or the obese?

So does that smoking ban include smoking dope?

Nobody wants to ban smoking in anyone’s personal home.

There has been a lot of litigation about this. People who live in a condominium unit right over a smoker have sued. And won.

There have been long waiting lists for public housing,it often takes years.

Why on earth would people have even moved in if smoking was allowed inside apartments?

Apparently it didn’t bother too many people or the only ones living there would have been smokers.

Actually, I smoke cigars, but they do stink! And yes, there ARE pipe tobaccos that smell good. My dad used to smoke mixture #79u and it smelled really nice. I used to like to clean his pipe and repack it for him...and the bowl was pretty stinky lol!

But as you said, cigarettes stink, and they sure do. I don’t allow any smoking in my house, but I have this really nice porch with comfortable chairs and tables, and so that’s where smoking can take place.

Actually, I began smoking as a teen because I couldn’t stand the smell of cigars/cigarettes. I discovered that when you smoke, you don’t notice the stench.

There are times when I’ve attempted to quit smoking, and I could smell cigarettes a block away...it was terrible.

I have a deck in my back yard, and it’s ok to smoke there, too. But I also like to hang my clothes on the line to dry. I couldn’t figure out why my towels smelled like an ash tray when I got out of the shower. And then it hit me...My friends and I sometimes smoke out back when we’re on the deck, and my wet laundry is picking up the smell. So if there’s laundry on the line, smoke out front.

I’ve been told by non smokers that I’m one of the very few smokers who doesn’t stink.

“Stop sucking on the taxpayer teat.”

The “government” (our supposed reps) is the number on enablers.

Used to see fine ladies smoking cigars all the time in Europe.

Anyhow, an ashtray full of ash and butts does smell pretty noxious the next morning. However, I have a fond memory back in cave times as a kid riding with my grandpa in his drab 1930'smobile as he smoked Luckies.

My cigars (Romeo y Juliet) have a magnificent aroma!😎
