A new poll released today from Commonwealth Leaders Fund, a conservative group, shows GOP candidates for Governor and Senate are each trailing by less than 3 points to the Democratic incumbents.
The polling showed Gov. Tom Wolf leading Scott Wagner 46% to 43%.
Sen. Bob Casey leads Rep. Lou Barletta 47% to 45%.
The polling, conducted via IVR interviews from Aug. 13-15, included 2,012 likely voters.
Its CLFs first ever publicly-released poll and it predicts a more conservative electorate than public polls. 53% of those polled identified as either very conservative or somewhat conservative.
Only20% polled considered themselves very liberal or somewhat liberal. The largest group identified themselves as moderate, with 28%.
Most polling has indicated that Wagner and Barletta trail their Democratic opponents by double digits.
Many candidates and causes release internal polling to inform the narrative of a campaign. Unlike most others, CLF conducted the poll in-house versus hiring a polling firm.
When you look at the issues most important to voters in this poll, theres no doubt why Scott Wagner is surging, said Wagner campaign spokesman Andrew Romeo. Taxes and Government Spending was the most important issue for those polled, coming in at 30.8%.
The economy, healthcare, and education in that order followed as the next most important issues for those polled, all finishing with over 10%.

Kick demoncat ass
If the PA GOP can manage to block RAT vote fraud in Philadelphia, these men will win. I read that some precincts in that city voted 110% of their registered voters.
Are western Pennsylvanians willing to put up with vote fraud in Philly?
Encouraging if true.
Only had to oversample Dems 5 pts to get a 2 pt lead.
The redistricting pretty much guarantee Dems will win the newly drawn House seats. Highly likely.
Barletta is a strong on borders guy. He hasnt spent a dime that Ive seen yet. Caseys already running negative ads on him. If these polls are accurate that is GREAT!
It’s true, I lived & voted in a Philly district that had 100% turn out for Owl Bore. Amazing since my neighbor had died recently & some of us didn’t vote for the p.o.s. .
Id love to see it happen, but I am at this point NOT holding my breath here in PA to see the governorship, senate seat or significant house turnover to R this fall.
Those non traditional MAGA voters HAVE to turn out big here to counter the dem enthusiasm, and so far have seen nothing to indicate they are going to like they did in 16.
Casey is such a dolt.
I live in Western PA and I am a poll watcher, which helps in one precinct in keeping the fraud to a minimum, but there are 12,000 voting places in PA and we have less than 10% poll watchers available.
Most people either, don't know, don't care or don't have the time to sit for 15-16 hours during an election to try and keep it semi-honest.
The demonRATs still cheat, with mail votes, fake ID {photo ID not required in PA}, voting by union members for the mentally disabled at nursing homes, and a myriad of other schemes.
What would you suggest, and what do you do to help?
Within the next week Terry Madonna and his fake-F&M poll will report double digit advantages for Wolf and Casey. Mark it down...
That is about right in PA. They did over sample women though
Does anyone know the truth behind the claim about Scott wagner taxing retirement ? I cant find anything on his platform.
Note:
1) they get the splits right (D+5)
2) oversample women
3) Wrong Track for the State is big
4) Yet Trump is 53% approval!
It’s the fault of some girl in Iowa. Democrats have put Americans at risk in order to open the borders because they need to import voters. It’s the only way that they can win elections.
Yep, PA JUDGES drew up new districts! Totally illegal! The legislature majority according to the PA constitution is the only authority for this. But it doesn’t matter when judges can just make up law.
Unfortunately I don’t believe it.
Wolf is running ads against Wagner highlighting his desire to start taxing retirement incomes. That is political death in a state with some of the oldest demographics in the country.
People also reflexively pull the lever for anybody named Casey because they’re as brain-dead as he is.
