President Trump posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor to Air Force Sgt. John Chapman, who gave his life to save more than 20 fellow service members on a mountain in Afghanistan in 2002.
Trump presented the award to Chapmans family Wednesday. Chapman was the first airman to receive the award since the Vietnam War, officials said. The sergeant was a native of Windsor Locks, Conn., and the father of two young girls.
Trump said at the ceremony that Chapman, from an early age his life was about: to protect those in need. The president said it began early when he protected a kid being bullied in kindergarten, setting the path of his life.
Trump said Chapman volunteered for Afghanistan after 9/11, telling his superior, I need to go.

Agree.
As a Connecticut son, it does hurt.
Yes well deserved. Did trump run this by the GOP senators before doing it?
We all know Hellary wouldn’t.
What’s a “posthumous medal of honor”?
A medal of honor awarded to someone who has passed away.
And the ugly remarks on Twitter abound. To me, the behavior of the Left these days so perfectly encapsulates how some have framed what is happening to us, as a nation. There are certain things where we should be able to come together, put politics aside, and respectfully observe as our Commander in Chief, whoever they may be at the time, honor one of our fallen military heroes. The Left can’t even do that anymore.
It was a very moving ceremony. However, the only thing that marred the whole presentation was at the conclusion when Trump went over to shake some of the politicians’ hands — and there was that slimeball poser Richard Blumenthal.

Yes, the award of the MOH was “run past Republican Senators.” the Medal of Honor is awarded by vote of Congress to a member of the military. The President merely presents the award to the service member, or his family when posthumous, ‘in the name of Congress.’ President Trump made that notation in his presentation comments today.
“...the Medal of Honor is awarded by vote of Congress to a member of the military...”
Congress has nothing to do with the award of the Medal of Honor.
I beg to differ: Please visit the Congressional Medal of Honor Society website: http://themedalofhonor.com/cmoh-foundation/history
or the Army Center of Military History’s CMOH webpage: https://www.army.mil/medalofhonor/history.html
And the legislation: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/10/3741
Well, I looked at the links you sent and no where can I find anything that supported your statement that the Medal of Honor is awarded by “Vote of Congress” to a member of the military.
Not one word in his Medal of Honor citation that he was inadvertently left behind on the mountain top, where for up to an hour he killed countless insurgents and died when he ran out of bullets. The Navy held up his MOH for years because they didnt want it coming out that they left him behind. But thats exactly what happened. And in the end the Navy got their way. Unless someone is familiar with the operation youll never know the true story.
I dont think radical Left opinion toward American servicemen is much different than it was 100 years ago - its just that the mainstream government/media complex used to be run by the FDRs and JFKs and now it is run by the intellectual heirs of Sacco and Vanzetti.
