You make it sound like Trump is pulling all the strings and part of the theatrics.
I don’t agree. I think there is a real battle going on, and Trump is the only one on our side getting his hands dirty in the fight. As a result he has to pick the battles carefully. I think so far he has done masterfully. But make no mistake, if justice is not done, if the rule of law no longer applies, then a very bloody end will result.

Yes, I think Trump is in good shape - he doesn’t seem at all concerned so niether am I. He doesn’t seem that frustrated with the DOJ and Sessions - despite an occasional Twitter complaint. He doesn’t seem interested in locking anyone up, and he doesn’t seem to care how long the Mueller witch hunt lasts.
The idea that Trump wants Mueller fired and Hillary et al locked up and the only thing preventing that is mild mannered Jeff Sessions - just doesn’t square with either man’s history or nature.
Sessions is not the type to blindside and sabotage an elected POTUS, and Trump is not the type to tolerate it for a year and a half. Far from it. None of it makes sense.
The only explanation is that certain Trump supporters expected Trump to do a bloody purge and are bitterly disappointed that he has not. They aren’t ready to accept that Trump wants to drain the swamp peacefully, through attrition - they wanted blood. They wanted heads on pikes.
Instead of curbing their expectations, they have invented a fantasy in which Trump is being held hostage by little Jeff Sessions and a handful of senators.
