Ocasio-Cortez raises eyebrows after citing national park as example of Democratic socialism
Fox News ^ | 8/21/18 | Adam Shaw

**SNIP**

That mockery looked set to continue this week after she took a leisurely stroll through Maine’s Acadia National Park, and declared it -- along with other benign Sunday stops -- an example of democratic socialism.

She cited not only her visit to the park, but also eating a breakfast sandwich at a cafe co-op, and “supporting worker-owned businesses.” She also added as a “bonus” that she spotted a Planned Parenthood branch “helping people, per usual.”

She posted a number of accompanying pictures -- including her relaxing under a bridge, and another of her smiling outside the aforementioned Planned Parenthood center.

But while worker-owned businesses may have a ring of “Workers of the World, Unite!” to them, Ocasio-Cortez took heat for what critics described as the common mistake of equating some things government-run to socialism.

Progressive President Teddy Roosevelt put the National Park System in place.

Still haven’t figured out where the Federal Government got that power via The Constitution, but that applies to about 90% of what the Federal Government does anyway.

A national park is actually a good example of socialism. How many people, by the way, live in national parks?

Just the few Park Rangers and those living in an RV who volunteer to help out so they can stay longer than 2 weeks. I'm not sure how many Park Rangers actually live in them. They may just pull a multi-day shift then go home for a week. There are probably some who like the solitude though and stay all the time.

Yeah, Ben Franklin wanted the turkey instead of the bald eagle.
Just think, Chuck Schumer with no makeup other than some feathers could pose for the new dollar bill images and at all parades and festivals.

I’ve observed it to be a common trait of Socialists to claim EVERTHING as socialistic in nature as a way to disallow the legitimacy of any other system.

Time and again I’ve pointed out that anything that humans may have come up with at times and places for reasons that have nothing to do with socialism means that those things cannot be deemed socialistic.

This includes professional armies, public education, higher education, police, fire fighters, retirement systems, and even forms of welfare.

In practice about the ONLY things that are uniquely socialistic has been the modern gulag state and imposing harsh conditions and even slavery on people in the name of helping to bring about the socialistic ideal.

Reeducation camps too are genuinely socialistic.

Fascism, socialism and communism eventually make bloody stumps of the cultures and peoples that they consume because the focus of these systems is ultimately what is good for government, what advances the power and preeminence of government, and the stability of those who govern (their fortunes and their prestige).

The communist clowns of the world might protest that communism is meant to be without the state but that was a form of deception played on the febril feeble minds of communists since the early days. That it is a lie can be demonstrated by the reception that Marx gave Darwin’s ideas, supposedly saying it gave a basis in naturalistic thought for his views. Why? Well, if there can be natural selection then so too can their be unnatural, the ruthless imposition of a kind of society unnatural to human nature until some point in some distant future when human nature has been replaced with something that can live in the fantasies of Marxists. The gulag States were not an abberation of Marxism, not an abuse of it, but were inescapably the heart of what would have to happen to create a new sort on men-like people to replace Man. The Revolution never ends because it is a Revolution against human nature itself.

Even Lysenkoism fell not far from the tree, for if by the power of the all powerful State the Marxist thought to remake Man, what it means to be human, then why not remake nature too?

Look at the Left wanting to regulate every nuance in society that isn’t having sex, for that alone is all that is really untouchable and the only “Liberty” that matters, with grave concern. These jackasses are conditioned like Pavlovian dogs to drool after the end of Man, the rise of Marxist mannish things, and the core of Cultural Marxism is the destruction of all that is, including human nature, so that the real Marxists can sweep everything else that isn’t them away.

Maybe she thinks “socialism” is:

On “The Five”, Meghan Mccain said lots of millennials think that Bernie Sanders’ ‘socialism’ has to do with ‘social networks’. She said it drives her crazy because they don’t even know what ‘socialism’ means! They must just think that ol’ Bernie is good at building social networks that can pay for college!

Save us!!!

What chaps my hide about our national parks is that we already pay for them through our taxes, yet get charged admission, which we're told is going to pay for the maintenance of the park.

Very true. I recently read a post on our neighborhood's NextDoor feed. In it the person claimed that all the following were socialist: Police and Fire Departments, the Military, Public parks, Public libraries, Public roads, and Public schools.

I keep telling these loonies that there is NO DIFFERENCE between socialism and ‘democratic’ socialism. (WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN)

"“From now on, brothers, everybody stands on his own feet.” This would be a great summary statement of what the monastic vow of poverty actually meant to most monks, historically. With regards to monasteries being the only places that have ever fulfilled the socialist ideal “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need,” I would add that they were able to do this because they valued the division of labor and the potential good of enterprise." - Father Thomas Merton, Trappist monk

"If you want to study the social and political history of modern nations, study hell." - Father Thomas Merton, Trappist monk

So she ate at a coop cafe. Should have eaten at the Jordan Pond House and had popovers and jam and a pot of Earl Grey. Oh the JPD predates the Park as do the gorgeous carriage trails, laid out by the Rockefellers for the Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Paysons and oh yeah Bushes. Girl is dumb as a bag of hammers.

Humorously ...

We should respect the celebration of the greatness of white people wherever they are from ... after all, doing so is the one thing most likely to drive SJWs to distraction and boy howdy can they be ever funny when they are driven to distraction.

Also, given the current state of our society, what was revealed in that New Generation movie about the state of the world when warp drive was discovered by a white American we can retcon such attitudes as Pavel’s as the echos of a once voicerfious rejection of the present Left and Cultural Marxism all across the Earth, the whole of human societies.

They even know which rest rooms to use.
