It must be easy, and fun, to write headlines for the New York Times. Just use a template, and fill in the blanks with whatever you feel like.

Old template: Obama Helps ____________ by ____________ .
New template: Trump Harms ____________ by ____________ .

Maybe tomorrow’s headline will be:
Trump Harms Trees by Wearing a MAGA Hat

Your post reminded me. Years ago the magazine ASTOUNDING Science Fiction published a spoof article about an automatic propaganda generator. I decided to try my hand at it. I made up three sets of cards. One was names of entities. Th a second was a set of verb phrases, some indicating favorable actions, some hostile actions. The third set was another set of entities. Taking one card from each set produced a propaganda phrase. The magazine published my effort.

Nowadays, of course, it would be a lot easier to do it on a computer, drawing from three files instead of from three sets of cards. However, the basic idea is still there.
