Sounds like you were forced to go to a company event and you had a chip on your shoulder. He was paid to tell one story, how he was able to safely ditch the plane.
So of course he told the story of his life in aviation, in the USAF, in flying, and how that all brought him to that day.
Sounds like you were expecting Billy Graham or something.
Also sounds like you may not have spent much time around fighter pilots if you were shocked that one likes telling stories about himself.
Youre all wrong. Just plain wrong. I really wanted to hear an uplifting story not 45 minutes of bragging. I thought he was going to be short and sweet about what happened but he was simply arrogant and borish.
