I am a retiresd Illinois State Police Officer. Nearly every convicted felon that I charged in a felon in unlawful possession of a firearm case had the gun charges dismissed at the plea bargain, if there were other accompanying charges with more jail time.
There are few things more useless than more gun control laws.
