U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he was worried that any statements under oath he provides to Special Counsel Robert Mueller could be used to bring perjury charges against him as part of the probe into Russia’s electoral interference.
In an interview with Reuters, Trump echoed the concerns of his top lawyer in the probe, Rudy Giuliani, who has warned that any sit-down with Mueller could be a “perjury trap.”

using one person’s statement against another person’s statements and the prosecution/Mueller having the ability to decide who is telling the truth, ahead of time. Our federal justice system is beyond repair. Need to hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and start over.

The president has nothing to gain and a lot to lose by agreeing to be questioned face to face by Mueller.
There is no reason that Mueller can’t get any answers he might want by an exchange of written questions and answers with the president.
The only reason Mueller would want to force a face to face questioning is to set a trap hoping the president misspeaks himself or makes statements contradictory to statements others have made or evidence Mueller may have.
It is easy to unintentionally and innocently make a contradictory statement when being questioned about minor details of events several years old.
That is why so many politicians answer questions with “I don’t recall”.
Why should the president unnecessarily expose himself to the known hazard of a perjury trap. I’d be very disappointed with him if he did. It would consume the remainder of his tenure in the office.
He shouldn’t. This is nothing but a Democrat / DS coup.
Nothing but that.
If Trump sits down for an interview with the Mueller team, he can no longer accurately call it a witch hunt, he will have ratified its legitimacy. And he will own any and all negative ramifications, and there will be plenty.
I cannot conceive that he would even entertain the idea. I would have thought he would relish the chance to tell Mueller to go to hell.

If he thinks he can “sit down” with Mueller, his presidency will be over in a few months.
Giving mueller the time of day would work in his favor, ... don’t help the enemy save himself.. let him self destruct.
Even the media would have a field day with a report Pres Trump meets mueller. Don’t go there! Don’t legitimize mueller’s witch hunt.
It's miles past the place where Mueller should produce his final report and without such an interview.

Agree to meet with Mueller at a neutral site, say GITMO. Have the guards retain him and extract the truth from Mueller, for once in his life. POTUS can issue a statement that Mueller “voluntarily” decided to stay for a few days to help clear up a few points prior to his retirement from public life.
Trump is just jerking Mueller around. He has no intention of ever sitting down with that slug.
