Cases of measles in Europe have hit a record high, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
More than 41,000 people have been infected in the first six months of 2018, leading to 37 deaths.
Last year there were 23,927 cases and the year before 5,273. Experts blame this surge in infections on a drop in the number of people being vaccinated.
In England, there have been 807 cases so far this year. The WHO is calling on European countries to take action.
Public Health England say the outbreaks in England are largely due to people who have travelled to areas of mainland Europe that have had outbreaks.

Lucky continent. Make sure the vitamin level is up, and they will be immune for real to measles and some other illnesses. Only undernourished or immune compromised people will get the really bad cases.
So how can we make a plague that would neuter all the males in Europe and the Middle East. That is what is needed.

Sorry to be disagreeable but during my childhood I knew people who were deformed from contracting polio in the 30’s and 40’s as children. I haven’t even heard of a case of polio since we all swallowed those sugar cubes back in the 60’s.
Have you known anyone who contracted smallpox? It leaves ugly pockmarks. One of my mother’s Spanish housekeepers had smallpox when young.
The evidence of my senses means what I’ve known firsthand via my eyes or via listening to stories about Aunts and Uncles who survived these diseases. In America today, my children and their children have never known the fear of diptheria, whooping cough,polio, mumps. Modern medicine now tackles childhood leukemia and wins. I can’t conceive of your experience of American life so different from my own.
They should be ecstatic that it is only measles!!!!!!

In Kenya back in the late 70’s - early 80’s, measles was killing 35,000 children each year.
All medical organizations worked very hard to get all children vaccinated. In Uganda, we even were vaccinating children in the cattle camps of the semi-nomadic Karamojong. If any cases of measles occurred, the chief would isolate the child & his mother outside the camp.
There was no polio epidemic in 54—55.

If there was an epidemic in those years I would remember it-—there was NONE,just relief at the introduction of the Salk vaccine.
