Former CIA Director John Brennan risked damaging the intelligence community with his anti-Trump comments, retired Adm. Michael Mullen, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told "Fox News Sunday."
Mullen's comments came as several former intelligence officials appeared on Sunday talk shows, including Brennan -- who floated the possibility of taking legal action against the president.
"I think John's an extraordinary servant of the country, but I think he has been incredibly critical of the president, and I think that has put him in a political place which actually does more damage for the intelligence community -- which is apolitical," Mullen said.
Brennan had publicly accused President Trump of "treason" after his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin this summer in Helsinki, Finland, and he has repeatedly lambasted Trump with Twitter posts that critics have charged improperly hint at classified insider information about the ongoing Russia probe.
However, Mullen added, Trump's decision to revoke Brennan's security clearance last week raised significant concerns.
*snip*
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders read a statement on behalf of the president during the start of the press briefing, saying Brennan "has a history that calls his credibility into question."
Specifically, the president's statement criticized Brennan for falsely telling Congress that the CIA had not infiltrated Senate computers, and for claiming that the unverified Steele dossier was not a factor in 2016 intelligence assessments.
The statement also claimed Brennan had been "leveraging" the clearance to make "wild outbursts" and claims against the Trump administration in the media.

Worked for Comey
He did it himself. No dignity. No respect, just anti American to his core.
... the intelligence community -- which is apoliticalYeah, sure. And I believe the judiciary isn't political, the DOJ isn't political, the FBI isn't political, and Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are not fictional.
Agree.
Incredible that these folks in "Intelligence" are so damn stupid....this guy says that Brennan harmed the intelligence communities (which also harms National Security) but it concerns him that someone who could not pass a background investigation today has his clearance revoked....incredible that we haven't fallen a long time ago with such as these in "Intelligence"....
>which actually does more damage for the intelligence community — which is apolitical
I read that line and it struck me as trying to put the genie back in the bottle. Does any thinking person who is paying attention believe that? Does anyone think it limited to Brennan?
Theres a need for a serious housecleaning.
I take Mullen with a grain of salt, he pushed a lot of the social experiments in the military and is directly responsible for the PC Navy leadership culture that has ships colliding in the night. Never liked him and honestly wish he would just go away.
Brennan was 0’s CIA Director during the loss (deaths) of 31, IIRC, CIA operatives in China.
Hat tip Conservative Tree house.
Around the 20 minute mark, Brennan has a Freudian slip
MADDOW: So, its an intelligence sharing operation between
BRENNAN: Right. We put together a Fusion Center at CIA that brought NSA and FBI officers together with CIA to make sure that those proverbial dots would be connected.
You also probably thought spies were supposed to be working for the good of their country.
Brennan doesn’t know that it’s time to go away. He doesn’t understand to zip it and wants to be a left wing activist.
More BS from the shadow government.
Intell thinks it is a force to itself without answering to anyone.
You probably thought spies were intelligent.
You probably thought spies were men and women of character who fight against evil.
Who would work to bring to justice international pedophilia organizations and terrorist groups.
Instead of participating in them.
They need to explain why revoking the clearance for former employees create problems.
Both organizations coordinated their resources and personnel in an unsuccessful effort to overthrow the duly elected President and government of the United States and their failed efforts are still ongoing under the guise of Muhller's witch-hunt.
The American people have completely lost faith in these organizations as well as the INjustice Department where UNEQUAL justice under the "law" now reigns supreme.
The “signers” of that stupid letter made a HUGE mistake defending Brennan. Instead, they should have observed, like 99% of people with a brain, that Brennan is out of line and told him to cut it out as his hyper anti-Trump unhinged activism reflects poorly on EVERYONE with a clearance. And now that he has called attention to this meal ticket and alerted the people, we all think everyone’s clearance should be revoked the day they leave government.
“I think John’s an extraordinary servant of the country,”
and I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s tried and hung for treason, maybe posthumously. On his watch, the US was attacked, both at home and abroad, and he failed to stop it. On his say-so, Bush sent members of the armed forces into harm’s way, and there were no WMD worth mentioning in Iraq. On his watch, a US Ambassador was brutally raped and killed, and his protectors murdered, too, while enough Marines to storm a beach were kept sitting on their hands, and he lied about it. On his watch, Russians interfered in the US election, and his “solution” was to spy on and collude with the Russians to spread misinformation about one candidate, while overlooking the treasonous, corrupt behavior of the other.
He. Must. Hang. Even if he dies of old age in the interim. Dig him up and hang him high. Then riddle his corpse with large bore bullets, piss on it, and throw it in a garbage dump.
