It’s nice to be Proud of your Humility.
It is nice to have humility.
It is nice when others observe it.
It gets to be a problem when you become too proud of your own humility.
That is how I have always seen Carter.
Years ago I saw Carter appear up on the Carson show.
Carson gave him a nice introduction and Carter came out and they proceeded to exchange pleasantries and small talk.
Carter had been there only a few minutes when he rudely admonished Carson for not bringing up the issue of Habitat for Humanity. Carter wanted everyone to know he participated.
Carter went on to explain that he took part in it. As I remember it, it wasn’t about praising the program or helping to connect others so they would take part, it was just about his own humanitarian actions.
At the end of the interview I was impressed by Carter’s rudeness and his ability to pat himself on the back to that level without breaking something.
He was visibly angry with Carson, and Carson just sat there and allowed him to ramble.
Carter was a real jerk.
