I’ve never believed Jimmy Carter was a bad or corrupt man.
What he is is a shallow thinking, naïve, misguided man who thinks more with his heart than his head. Personally a great guy but an absolute disaster as a leader in a high position.
The sad part is the vast numbers of those tortured and dead because of his naivety. He could have not caused more death, sorrow and destruction if he had tried.

Agreed.
To most leftists, every opponent is a monster. I try to avoid that kind of thinking. A liberal can be wrong - and make tragic mistakes - and still be a decent person. Carter seems to be one example of that.
I save my disgust for the truly evil among us. (Yes Hillary, I’m looking at you.)
You nailed it.
Same here. Probably a decent guy, but totally misguided politically.
Now that hes stopped trying to undermine his successors, I wish him 150 years. Good luck, Mr President. So many of of those who followed you are wicked people. Not you; lack of
Competence is not the equivalent of lack of character
From the Communist Goals read into the Congressional record, 1963:
"44. Internationalize the Panama Canal."
His folksy demeanor was/is a smokescreen for a dedicated marxist.
Well, I don’t know, his lieutenant governor, Lester Maddox, called Carter “the most dishonest man I ever met.”
You are mistaken.
To each their own.
I despise him for sneaky anti-Semitism which covered just enough to get nice people to allow his support for terrorists.
I cannot respect him because in a nonfiction book on use of space for military strategy planning it was reported that he blurted out to a negotiator: I have just come away with the idea that I think the Iranians are lying to us and don’t really want peace like I do. The negotiator was open mouthed over realizing Carter was a dangerously naïve fool who was risking our lives.
All the time his triad of defense was in use during his presidency the codes had been breached and the Soviets knew the exact location of all US nuclear subs at all times! We could have been killed.
He was jealous of Reagan and tried to get a Nobel Price by undermining the US policy with known enemies as ex-president.
He called Reagan “a dangerous radical.”
