False accusers, administrators, prosecutors no one learned from her lesson
It appears to be the end of the road for Crystal Mangum.
The accuser at the center of the Duke University lacrosse gang-rape hoax was denied another trial after her conviction for lethally stabbing her boyfriend five years ago.
We last covered Mangum three years ago when she asked for a new trial, saying the jury was improperly informed of her attack on another man in 2010.
Mangum claimed the butter-knife stabbing was an act of self-defense against a violent boyfriend, but the jury didnt believe her and she was sentenced to 14 to 18 years in prison for second-degree murder.
She represented herself in court Wednesday, speaking directly to the judge and rebutting prosecution arguments for why she shouldnt get a new trial, namely that the statute of limitations to request a new trial had expired, according to WRAL.
The judge rejected all her requests and approved a gatekeeping request to prohibit Mangum from suing the county sheriff or prosecutors again.
MORE: Dukes Gang of 88 where are they now?
Mangums allegations against three Duke lacrosse players led to one of the most publicly biased and shoddy prosecutions of the 21st century.
Prosecutor Mike Nifong was disbarred for numerous ethics violations in the investigation, ABC News reported in 2007:
The [North Carolina] bars three-member disciplinary panel unanimously found Nifong guilty of fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation; of making false statements of material fact before a judge; of making false statements of material fact before bar investigators, and of lying about withholding exculpatory DNA evidence, among other violations.
The panel chair said Nifong prosecuted the Duke case out of self-interest and self-deception. The case was later the subject of an ESPN documentary, and some of his other prosecutions came under the light of the North Carolina Center on Actual Innocence.
The costly consequences for Mangum and Nifong werent enough to dissuade another rape accuser and her university from trying to destroy another falsely accused athlete, except the racial roles were reversed.
The University of North Carolina and white student Delaney Robinson tag-teamed to take down black football player Allen Artis after a disappointing but consensual sexual encounter, as explained in an exhaustive investigation by Ashe Schow in RealClearInvestigations.
Despite the agreement of all parties Robinson, witnesses and UNC that Robinson showed no signs of incapacitation before her sex with Artis, the university failed to clear him for five months, letting Robinson file a civilian warrant under which she could press charges without police. (Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper signed a law narrowing this civilian authority after the Artis case.)
Artis was repeatedly interviewed by UNC without an attorney even though the school was secretly sharing information with campus police, a tactic to evade due process. Robinsons lawyer Denise Branch also showed the public doctored images of her clients neck and passed them off as bruises caused by Artis, rather than the hickeys that they were. Branch was later outed.
You can be confident that more horrific abuses of the criminal justice system and Title IX investigations will take place, regardless of these hiccups for deceitful prosecutors, lawyers, campus administrators and shameless professors.

...and Dukes Gang of 88, where are they now?
Karma? Just desserts? What goes around comes around? I hope those 88 get theirs.
Dats a crazy ho, Jim
Yes, or -
As you sow so shall you reap...
Crystal Mangum, the “exotic dancer”, a/k/a, a cheap BJ artist.
If any aspect of the accused had been different — if they had been transgender, of a different color or ethnicity, or
gay — there would have been outrage that they were charged on such flimsy grounds and the case would have been dismissed in five minutes.
But their case was one in which “innocence was not allowed to be a defense”.
I read news and FR every day and didn’t know she was a murderer. Sad someone had to die at the hands of this liar.
The gift that keeps on giving.
And, I’m not talking about Chrystal Mangum’s various STDs.
Tell you what, gotta hand it to the NFL. By insulting the flag, they changed the narrative from athletes=rape culture to athletes=protestors.
“I read news and FR every day and didnt know she was a murderer.”
The Duke case was the second time she had made a false rape claim (same details the first time — raped by three men in a bathroom).
She also stole a taxi for a joy ride, falsely claimed her ex-husband had dragged her into the woods and tried to kill her, falsely claimed her grandmother was pushed down steps and killed, etc.
IOW, she had a ton of looney stories.
She also set fire to her apartment after a lover’s quarrel, while her kids were inside.
The police knew she was looney and so did everyone else in Durham. But the story of duke lacrosse players gang raping a “poor working woman of color” was just too good a PC narrative to resist.
Yep, I also recall the 80+ Duke University professors putting forward a letter claiming the lacrosse kids were guilty, this before the Durham DA, Mike Nifong, was disbarred & sent to prison for withholding evidence. There is a good show on Netflix called the Staircase. It gives an up close look at the Durham legal system.
The [North Carolina] bars three-member disciplinary panel unanimously found Nifong guilty of fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation; of making false statements of material fact before a judge; of making false statements of material fact before bar investigators, and of lying about withholding exculpatory DNA evidence, among other violations."
How is that different from Mueller and the FISA warrants?
“It appears to be the end of the road for Crystal Mangum.”
Ha she set up a GoFundMe account yet?
How soon will Omorosa be “dancing” at frat parties?
Omorosa’s frat party was “working” at the White House.
Read the story.... your comment is not accurate
I recall the disgusting episode in which an ambitious prosecutor tried to assure his career success by deliberately and intentionally prosecuting innocent men for a crime they did not commit, and in which a highly-privileged member of a government-certified victim group deliberately lied with the result that innocent men had their lives ruined.
This thing and Mike Nifong need to be in jail for life.
Bingo.
