Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said on Saturday that he "fully admit[s]" Twitter employees share a largely left-leaning bias after facing accusations that conservatives are discriminated against on the social media platform.
In an interview that aired Saturday on CNN, Dorsey said his company has a responsibility to be open about its political viewpoints, but to operate without bias when applying content policies to users.
"We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is...is more left-leaning," Dorsey says.
"But the real question behind the question is, are we doing something according to political ideology or viewpoints? And we are not. Period," he added.
Dorsey went on to insist that his company only polices behavior on the platform, not content.
Dorsey's remarks follow criticism from the right over supposed "shadow-banning" of conservatives users. The platform and Dorsey have also faced questions over the decision not to remove far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from the platform, despite other social media platforms choosing to do so.
The Twitter CEO said in an interview with The Hill this week that Jones was banned after he received complaints that Jones's content was inciting violence.
We were getting a number of reports around the tweet and the Periscope that the content was inciting violence, which is against our terms of service, and we took action, Dorsey said.
The InfoWars host received a week-long ban from the platform, but has been removed from other services including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
Dorsey is expected to testify next month before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the issue of Russian election interference, and faces a possible subpoena from the House Energy and Commerce Committee over allegations of discrimination against conservatives on the platform.

The screwing is already in the works with a block chain based equivalent service.
They cut their own lifeline.

Alex Jones has the most honest and effective news service on the planet.
RU CIA?
Its going to succeed like Detroit, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and every other leftist city.

Exactly. Just like post above. Non-lefties should just LEAVE these sites and go to places like FR or Breitbart, and good old fashioned talk radio. There are ways to get our message out, but arguing with these morons on Twitter or FB is useless.
Let the loons on the left stay on those sites by themselves, sites ran by even bigger loons on the left, and their sites will turn into non profitable garbage just like the left turns every city and town they run into the ground.
RU CIA? Hell no. Would never have served under Brennan or most the incompetents before him. Check Leon Panetta’s background at www.keywiki.org for some interesting information.
Re Alex Jones. Look up a writer named “Frank Capell”, New Jersey, from the 1960’s and you’ll see why I don’t trust a lot of what Jones says. They could have been twins.
I’m just an old guy with some real life experience in CI work, plus a little time in Nam, working for Congress, etc.
Also a journalist for almost 50 years (and never been sued, banned (except when one editor turned “progressive”), or even smeared by the Left (I feel like the Maytag Repair Man). They have threatened but they slunk away like the cowards they were when confronted by “facts, documents facts”, not theories, half-truths, or distorted writings.
Amazing what tape-recordings, photos, and internal documents can do to threats of lawsuits.
In the “game” of journalism and even historical writing, you’ve got to be accurate, concise in context and the way your write, documenting every major and many minor “statements of fact”, and just plain in the real world. You can’t be “half in and half out” which is how I feel about Jones.
I do support his right to “free speech” and am against efforts to ban him from Twitter, Facebook, etc. when he is falsely accused of violations of their leftist that are only for conservatives and even moderates.
I’m not afraid of a level playing field because I have enough confidence in what I write to stand on that field. However, I’ve known people in the past who started out with good intentions and projects who later left the track of reasonableness. Associating with them at that point became a personal and professional liability because the Marxist Left is just waiting for you to make one slip up, even an unintentional one, so that they can launch a smear campaign against you.
This Homey don’t play that game!
“We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is...is more left-leaning,” Dorsey says.
You need to, but you don’t. But that’s OK. Anyone can build a forum from scratch. You did, after all. And the forum can be openly, honestly biased and tell people up front, or can be neutral and allow anyone to say anything within minimal parameters. You’ve done neither, but instead push your agenda without having the decency to be up front about it. You’re too big, and it’s time you had some competition.
“But the real question behind the question is, are we doing something according to political ideology or viewpoints? And we are not. Period,” he added.
If you say so./s
“Donald Trump at least can use Twitter freely I assume, but you know what it means to assume.”
And interestingly, you can notice that most of the replies/comments after his tweets are from leftists and a good portion of those leftist tweets are pretty vile and disgusting.
A single service that supports both open and private chats as well as both open and private “timelines” (a la Facebook) and private email, and an unrestricted photo hosting would clean up. Employees would have to be vetted of course.
Didn’t need Sherlock Holmes or Hercules Poirot to figure that out...
Left leaning?!
SNORT.
The leaning tower of Twitter.
Non-institutional shareholders, don’t get left (ha ha) holding the bag when it falls.
LOL!
Did Dorsey check to see if any violence had actually occured or did he just assume it had? If I complain of a liberal inciting violence on Twitter, will Dorsey ban the liberal, or me?
I’m surprised they let him keep going.
On the other hand, imagine how much more traffic they have because of him.
Dorsey is admitting the falsehood. Will he be able to live with his conscience in the future? What will his children think of him?
Right now Twitter has my account locked, for a tweet I sent over a year ago. No kidding. They just locked it a couple days ago. I think they are combing through all conservative posts just looking for any reason to silence us.
This is the tweet that got my account locked in Aug 2018

Nothing sexy about Islam. It’s a Death Cult. Doesn’t matter how good one “looks” - doesn’t change that.

“The liberals never stop lying.”
These people aren’t actual liberals though. Liberals favor free speech. These people are Cultural Marxists and other assorted radical leftists, and they normally do not support free speech for anyone who disagrees with them. In that way, they are illiberal.
I agree.
I use that as shorthand for “leftist political liberals” meaning “Democrats”.
They are much like Adolph Hitler’s followers. O.K. with banning personal weapons, propaganda only to the masses and book burning (they burned some book in protest this week I heard).
sigh
In current parlance, to be a “Liberal” you must be opposed to liberty, and to be a “Progressive, you must be a luddite. Language can be a funny thing.
One difference between Frank Capell and that era and Alex Jones and the present is that Capell was unable to reach millions through his newsletters and books. He was, to the Establishment of that era, safely confined in the right wing ghetto with the Birch Society and the like. Jones and the alternative media reach millions by bypassing the old broadcast and print media that kept Capell, Dan Smoot, and the like from the general public. Today’s Establishment is counting on Big Tech to shut them down.
It is not more left leaning. It is a deliberate use of the facilities of the website to suppress correct thinking and to promote an agenda that is contrary to human nature.
