The NM property owners went to the The Taos County Sheriff’s Office four months ago .

The Taos County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Steve Fuhlendorf said the couple didn’t file the proper paperwork to enforce the eviction.

According to your link, that’s part of the story. The police/sheriff had PLENTY of opportunities to fix this and chose instead to do nothing.

Someone should be going to jail, in addition to the judge that let them free after this disaster.
