NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar likened the national anthem to songs that were sung by slaves while they were forced to do manual labor. Abdul-Jabbar, 71, in a Tuesday column for The Hollywood Reporter, recanted what Frederick Douglass said in My Bondage and My Freedom. Slaves are generally expected to sing as well as to work. Abdul-Jabbar wrote, adding slaves had to sing their oppressors feel-good songs as well. He wrote that the Star-Spangled Banner is the song that President Trump the oppressor is demanding to be sung. Currently, the song being demanded is the national anthem during football games. But during a warm-up game on Aug. 10, despite President Trump's previous condemnation, several Eagles players kneeled during the anthem or raised their fists their way of singing their own song, he wrote. For them, lyrics like land of the free don't accurately represent the daily reality for people of color. They love their country but want that country to recognize the suffering that occurs when it isn't living up to its constitutional promises. The NBAs all-time leading scorer reacted to Trump saying NFL players wanted to show their outrage at something theyre unable to define. Who would know better how to define their outrage: the privileged darling of white supremacists, the 94 percent-white team owners, the 75 percent-white head coaches or the 70 percent-black players who actually take the field each week? Abdul-Jabbar asked. The Basketball Hall of Famer has been critical of Trumps stance about players kneeling during the national anthem. In a piece for The Hollywood Reporter in September 2017, he praised NFL players for deciding to take a stand against Trumps remarks.

My favorite joke about this was told by a former Celtics player. M.L. Carr told everyone he had converted and changed his name to Abdul Automobile.
Hey, Lew: eat shit. From a big bowl, with a big spoon.
Nice!
Come on, man! It’s getting tougher and tougher to be a Laker fan. If it’s not LeBron spewing Trump hate, it’s some old timer trying to get back in the limelight.
Say nope to dope, Kareem!
Yep...skin color is paramount.
Cue the scene in Blazing Saddles where the foreman wants the black guys to sing a negro work song.
Mr Alcindor, please shut up, because you are showing that you’re a moron. If you hate it here, jackass, move to a Muslim country.
Now officially becoming a ‘hasbeen’ because he saw the need to do some pandering attention whoring.
So when are you going back to africa kareem ?
maybe it might change your mind by actually seeing what ‘the other places are like ‘ for yourself.
Has Kareem ever toured the Gettysburg cemetery?
Just another typical DFG with mental disorders
He’s a Bruin.
Jump down turn around shoot up a sky hook,
Jump down turn around make a million bucks a day.
Hey, Kareem DeBuckwheat, what song did you sing while playing basketball in front of all those honkies?
Sounds like dementia is setting in. Kareem has lived a long time for someone so tall.
