A young, female 20-something is looking to upset how things are done in Washington D.C. by defeating a long-entrenched incumbent. Shes the youngest person running for Congress in 2018. Shes not Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Shes not even a Democrat. Morgan Murtaugh is running as a Republican for Democrat Rep. Susan Daviss seat in Californias 35th District. Davis has held the seat for 15 years.
The Federalist talked with Murtaugh about her platform and why she thinks she can turn this blue district red.
CA-53 has been blue ever since its creation in 2003. California has consistently voted for Democrats. What made you think that the district might want to shift red?
This district has been blue since its creation, yes, but thats because the same person has held the seat since its creation. What people dont realize is that San Diego County has consistently been a red county until only recently [when it] has begun to shift to purple. As someone who has been born and raised in this district, with family and friends on all ends of this district, who went to school, played sports, got baptized, and even had my first kiss in this district, I know it like the back of my hand.
I know the people here and I know that what we need is someone who is ready to take into consideration the wants and needs of the district over the wants and needs of special-interest groups. The truth is, in order to shift the blue tide in California we need to have the conversations everyone, especially our current leadership, avoids having. Thats what Im doing and thats why I think we have a good shot at winning this.

“...and even had my first kiss in this district, I know it like the back of my hand.”
Congressional District of first kiss is always a pressing issue U.S. House races.
A looker! We need more of them.
Well she meets the constitutional requirements. God knows being a bit wet-behind-the-ears is a bit better than some of the stuff the Dems are running.
I live in an area that’s so heavily Democratic the GOP doesn’t even bother to field candidates for many races.
The fact that she was willing to do it should be applauded.
She has my vote, and her next kiss!( no, I’n not in the district, or even the state)
I assume the Press will be fawning over this Yo8ng Woman, right?
My only criticism is she could use a full-body shampoo.
We have a girl from WVU in the WV House of Delegates. She’s a hard-core conservative. Claims she plans to serve a couple or three terms, then get a real job.
What time will she be interviewed on fCNN & MSDNC? Huh? HUH?
TTIWWP.
Sorry.

Good Luck, young lady...the glory of being a “Trump” woman....Bravo!!!
Hey folks you may want to check out another Trump, Republican gem....Matthew Corey, who won the Connecticut Republican Senate Primary yesterday with a massive 100,000 votes. He will face deadbeat, useless Democrat low life, Senator, “asleep-at-the-wheel”, Chris Murphy in November. Mr. Corey did this magnificent feat with very little money or fancy ads to campaign with. He is just a “Blue Collar” window washing dude and he owns and operates his own local bar. Quite the guy!!! Check him out!!!
You on the other hand...not so much.
Great post..!!!
Didn’t show up.
Probably my phone.

The location of congressional candidates’ first kiss is not relevant.
Any candidate running for Congress that cites such information should be questioned as to its relevance.
Are you a Republican?
I'm questioning your relevance.....
