That sort of high-level political abuse and corruption is accepted by Americans - it has a veneer of morality of the “law” and is cleaner and better than outright assassinations in the street.

How is it a violation of the Clean Water Act, if you're drawing water from the river, and returning the same water in its original state, back where it came from?

Surely Trump had to get both federal and state EPA approval for the process, and Environmental Impact approvals for every beam, glass panel and plumbing pipe laid.
So, unless Little Miss AG is going to allege that Trump Tower is exceeding what was approved, then this is a frivolous, politically motivated nuisance suit..... (Well even if the tower is exceeding what it was permitted, it is still a politically motivated nuisance suit.)

For the record I work right upriver from Trump Tower just south of the Kinzie Street Bridge. Every single day I see a MWRD (Metropolitan Water Reclamation District) Boat crewed by 3 people AND a “captain” cruising along the North Branch with a dip net pulling out beer bottles, cans, coolers, and God knows what else from the river.
Each one of them earns well over $50,000 a year and has an untouchable defined benefit pension plan.
The boat has a name.
“Skinny Dipper”.

In sum, the Chicago River and Sanitary Canal are effectively an open sewer - but Trump Tower taking water for cooling is an environmental threat. F****ing hypocrites.

I downloaded and watched a TV show from a British torrent site a while back. They did an autopsy on a fatberg taken from one of the sewers in London. It was pretty disgusting. Can't imagine it's any different in Chicago. Here's an article about the show itself:
