Bobby Goodlatte, the son of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), said on Monday he is “embarrassed” that his father’s “political grandstanding” cost FBI agent Peter Strzok his job.
Earlier Monday, it was announced that Strzok was fired on Friday after sending disparaging text messages about President Trump during the 2016 election.
TWEET: "I’m deeply embarrassed that Peter Strzok’s career was ruined by my father’s political grandstanding. That committee hearing was a low point for Congress. Thank you for your service sir. You are a patriot."
Strzok, a frequent target of GOP critics of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, clashed with the elder Goodlatte during a hearing on Capitol Hill last month.
Bobby Goodlatte called that committee hearing “a low point for Congress” on Monday and thanked Strzok for his service.
Bobby Goodlatte said Sunday that he donated the maximum allowed to Democrat Jennifer Lewis, who is running for his father’s seat in the midterm elections.
“I just gave the maximum allowed donation to Jennifer Lewis, a democrat running for my father's congressional seat,” his son said on Twitter.
Goodlatte, 65, announced last November that he would not not seek reelection.

He currently lists himself as a product designer and "angel investor" to numerous start ups online. He also launched OpenVote, a non-partisan voting project in 2015 to allow users to pledge their votes and learn about political issues.

Some 95% of all personal woe in this world is self-induced. By doubling down, Peter Strzok probably raised that percentage noticeably.
Former Agent Strzok had a perfectly good opportunity to come clean when he appeared before the House Committee. Instead, he waffled, mugged and generally treated the members of the Committee with disdain and condescension.
The Universe is a cruel place, and stupidity is the one crime that is invariably punished, to the fullest extent possible.
Too bad that Bob Goodlatte’s son turns out to be a totally indoctrinated snowflake.
Strzok’s bias and corruption ruined his career. If you accept a job, you do it correctly, not to serve your own biases.
Maybe Bobby can go visit Stzrok in jail.
