German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier launched strong attack on Trump for his tariffs and sanctions. He told Bild am Sonntag newspaper that “this trade war is slowing down and destroying economic growth – and it creates new uncertainties.”

Meanwhile, the agreement between the EU and US “can only be first step”. Altmaier emphasized “Our goal is a global trade order with lower tariffs, less protectionism and open markets.”

Regarding US sanctions on Iran, Altmaier also pledged the Germany and EU will continue to support companies doing business with Iran. He warned that “we won’t let Washington dictate us with whom we can do business and we therefore stick to the Vienna Nuclear Agreement so that Iran cannot build atomic weapons.”

Europe in turmoil because Trump doubled tarriffs on Turkey, and threatened to cut off countries doing business in Iran from the American Markets.

Lots of EU billionaires jumped into Iran when Obama dropped the sanctions, and they do not want to lose that money.

They can choose to trade with Iran and lose access to the largest market in the world. This is why the guy making these statements is not in business, he would be bankrupt inside of a month.

Germans can’t dictate where US troops get stationed for decades to protect their sorry asses.

When there eventually is a major war that threatens Germany, I say no American lives or treasure to protect their pathetic Kraut asses.

No problem.

They can do business with whomever they want, and so can the US.

Just don’t expect the US to help them out.

Sure, it’s not like you’ve been a relevant country for the last 40 years anyway. Think your economy can’t get any worse? Keep thinking that, losers.

Germany is the most expensive place to station our troops.
Poland pays its 2% obligation to Nato, and its closer to Russia therefore a better strategic location for our bases.
Central European countries object to EU policies on Muslim
refugees because they bring violence and poverty with them.

Trump is right Turkey is not ideal for a Nato member.
Turkey was for BDS on Israel, now they are getting a taste of their own of what that feels like.

No joke. It’s like telling Microsoft to piss off so that you can do business with Bob’s Garage.

IOW, the current German gov't doesn't give a **** about Germany economic growth, it's all about the primacy of German foreign policy, and Altmaier is a mealy-mouthed liar. Thanks tcrlaf.

Move the bases to Poland.

Poland doesn’t have a death-wish.

“we won’t let Washington dictate us with whom we can do business..”

German businesses can do business with whoever they like. They just can’t do business with America and Iran at the same time. It’s an either or situation. They are free to choose Iran if they like.

“Our goal is a global trade order with lower tariffs, less protectionism and open markets.”

I see the big lie is back in fashion in Germany.

Their goal is to continue what they had until Trump hit town, US open market to them, with protectionist measures protecting their own markets.

Peter can keep telling himself that business with a world top supporter of terrorism is good for Germany
The Third Reich would agree
After all, the target of the shia bomb is Israel
The dogs bark
The caravan moves on

You are right on that point, the Poles got hammered from both the Russian & the Germans in WW2 and I think that memory won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

“this trade war is slowing down and destroying economic growth – and it creates new uncertainties.”

Ours is doing quite nicely thank you. A trade war with us will end just like the other kind did Herr Altmaier.

Trump is not saying that German companies cannot do business with Iran. He is only saying that if they do, they can’t do business with the US. They are 100% free to choose what they wish to do.

Fine.

25% tariff on BMWs, Mercedes, VWs and Audis.

No problem.

We make cars here too...

Many of them BMWs, Mercedes, and VWs. No Audis, though they make some in Mexico.
