If the parents are US citizens and their child is born outside of the US, they simply need to file a CRBA form to officially make their child a US citizen.
I’ve never read Senator No-Name’s parents completed the required documentation.
As an aside, Ted Cruz’s parents never obtained this required documentation for their Canadian born child.
