Think about what you are saying.
Do you want to live in a country where the media has the power to make heads roll?
It's President Trump's job to roll these heads, and I understand that he believes he will be removed from office if he does, but, as one of Obama's heroes said, "People will follow the strong horse".
Trump should take control of the Executive Branch and if he is impeached, fight it out in the Senate.
Even if the Senate looks unfavorable, he still has options.
Being paralyzed like this, he has none.
The press in every country creates and controls public opinion. Usually the press is an arm of the state — a dictator, a King, an Oligarch, etc.
In our Constitutional Republic, the press has historically been more free and fair than any other nation in history. That press still had the power to create and control public opinion.
Watergate was literally a minor, misdemeanor level crime that the media blew up into a political firestorm. The media created public opinion against Nixon and the Republicans.
All I am saying is, if the media was merely fair and simply would report all that we are learning about the Trump spying scandal, FISA abuse, and unmasking, and how Hilary colluded with Russians and foreign agents to do so, and how Obama was up to his neck in it — then a fair media could create a firestorm of public opinion against Hilary, Obama, DOJ, and FBI, also exonerating Trump.
It is not that I want to live in a country where the media has the power to make heads roll. I ALREADY DO LIVE IN A COUNTRY where the media has the power to make heads roll. They also have the power to completely cover-up treason by Democratic Party politicians and the FBI/DOJ staff. I already live in that country. I just want the media to fairly report the misdeeds of both sides as appropriate, and heads to roll as justice requires.
But I live in a nation where the media only causes GOP heads to roll because this ungodly powerful mass-market information machine is a working arm of the Democratic Party.
You can pretend the media does not have the power anymore in the current age of tweets and internet blogs. The sad reality is, most people still get all their news from the local 5 o’clock news report which picks up everything the AP and the national media pitch to them, because most people are lazy and apathetic. So they don’t do their own homework. Most people are not political junkies rushing off to the internet to look for political news every day.
If they were, then the president’s approval rating would be 100% and the polls would show Democratic Party mid-term candidates polling at 0%.
At this point in time, it's out of our hands. We did our job, and now it's a matter of watching and waiting. If anything were to happen, then that's a different issue to be addressed at the appropriate time.
The reason I'm pretty sanguine is because history teaches that no matter how many millions can be/have been killed by tyrants, the spirit of liberty and the desire to be free eventually results in victory for the people. Name me an oppressive regime, and I can tell you when it was eventually defeated.
What psychopaths don't understand is that while normal people don't have an overwhelming desire for power & control, there is a certain point where the will to life is subsumed for more primal reasons. Once that state of mind is reached by the general populace - see French revolution for instance - no amount of paid mercenaries can stand up to that force.
The USA has had a great ride. This iteration may fail, but some new(er) version will eventually emerge, and perhaps use our experiences to learn how to best prevent how total corruption can take over the state apparatus.
