I have known a number of white parents who have adopted black kids as infants. They were raised in a very good, low crime area with excellent schools and a 95+ % white population. The kids did very well in school and behavior wise until they hit their teens and started becoming interested in black culture. They started hanging out with other black kids and went down hill very rapidly. They became disrespectful toward their adopted parents, slacked off in school and started using drugs. In a few years they had limited or no contact with their families. IMO the key to raising successful black kids is to keep them away from other blacks.

I have had several wonderful black kids as students. But as you say, as they get drawn into black culture, their behavior starts to deteriorate. Same thing happens to white kids who try to take on white-trash culture as well. I used to say the swamp was trying to pull them down. It takes really strong character for a kid to resist. I’ve always admired the ones who are able to do it.
