Republicans pitch themselves for Trump ally's seat after suspending his reelection campaign
The Hill ^ | August 11, 2018

Two Republicans cast themselves as potential successors to embattled Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) after he announced he would suspend his reelection campaign Saturday while he faces insider trading charges.

New York businessman and former gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino and Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw both tweeted out their candidacies that same day.

Paladino tweeted, “I’m all in! #NY27,” referring to the state's deeply red 27th Congressional District. Mychajliw tweeted that he too is “all in.”

At least there is still time to hold this seat.

One of those last minute substitutions better get in with everything they've got!

The only other 2 candidates on the ballot are the Democrat and the Reform Party's Larry Piegza.

Larry Piegza's 1st crowdpac.com fund raiser page [LINK] for campaign funds begins with the sentence:

"Please help me get Chris Collins out of office. He was the first congressman to endorse Donald Trump."

Nothing more needs to or can be said about the "independent" "Reform" Party candidate running for the Collins congressional seat.

Paladino should win this one, if he runs, given his name recognition.

Cannot believe The Hill did not include Collins’ name in the headline. Maybe their copy editor took the weekend off.

It is unclear how the two men intend to get their names on the ballot. While they could mount write-in campaigns, the filing deadline to appear on the ballot passed in April.

Here:

Under New York law, Collins’ name can be supplanted on the ballot at this stage of the cycle only if he dies, moves out of state or is nominated for another office — like a local judgeship. According to Erie County GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy, the exact mechanisms are still being worked out, but he noted Collins owns houses in Florida and Washington, D.C.

He just moves to Florida and someone nominated by the local GOP takes his place.

The Justice Department charged Collins with securities fraud and lying to the FBI about helping tip off family members with nonpublic stock information to prevent losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in investments

Deep State FBI/DOJ at work to bring false, trumped up charges against a Republican congressman just before the midterms so he can lose before he is exonerated, steal another seat for the Democrats, secure a Democratic majority in The House and get Trump impeached?
YOU BET!

Anyone remember US Senator Ted Stevens and how he was railroaded by the corrupt Obama DOJ/FBI on false charges, ending with him losing his seat and ultimately dying in a plane crash?

———— Report: Prosecutors Hid Evidence In Ted Stevens Case

An extraordinary special investigation by a federal judge has concluded that two Justice Department prosecutors intentionally hid evidence in the case against Sen. Ted Stevens, one of the biggest political corruption cases in recent history.

A blistering report released Thursday found that the government team concealed documents that would have helped the late Stevens, a longtime Republican senator from Alaska, defend himself against false-statements charges in 2008. Stevens lost his Senate seat as the scandal played out, and he died in a plane crash two years later.

The 500-page report by investigator Henry F. Schuelke III shook the legal community, as law professors described it as a milestone in the history of prosecutorial misconduct.

Investigators weren't talking Thursday. But Brendan Sullivan, who defended the senator, had plenty to say.

“The extent of the corruption is shocking,” Sullivan says. “It's the worst misconduct we've seen in a generation by prosecutors at the Department of Justice.”

Obama is about the most President this country has ever had.

So Peter Strozk, McCabe, John Brennan, Hilary Clinton et al are still walking free after committing serious crimes but the FBI/DOJ gave plenty of time to go after. Republican congressman for “insider trading” just before the midterm elections? Give me a break!

Paladino, Michajliw, or a third, David Bellavia, are all Blue Chip. Actully As step up from Collins (who I liked). Got to maneuver the legalities.

This kind of stuff is so depressing. Why THE HECK would a DC solid supporter of Trump be involved in this kind of sleaze? From what we’re hearing, this is much more clear cut than the case against Martha Stewart was.

Congressmen are indeed exempt from the insider trading laws. But their immediate family members are not exempt.

They will nail this guy because he told his son to bail on the stock at the same time that he was bailing on it. And because he is a Republican, and a Trump supporter.

Democrats would get (and have gotten)a pass for such things.

Realistically, "it is only a crime when the Republicans do it".

Time to flush the DOJ, FBI, and others.

If they’re smart and are serious about being elected they better get on (and stay on) the Trump train.
