Atlanta elementary school says it will no longer do the pledge of allegiance - but students WILL stand each morning for a 'wolf pack chant'

An Atlanta elementary school announced that students will no longer have to say the Pledge of Allegiance during morning meetings, and will instead recite a 'Wolf Pack Chant'.

Lara Zelski, the principal of Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School, said in a press release on Tuesday that it has become 'increasingly obvious' over the past years that more and more of the school community were not standing or reciting the pledge.

'Students will continue to lead the meeting by asking our community to stand to participate in our wolf pack chant together,' the school said.

Zelski said students who wish to recite the pledge can do so at another point during the school day in their classroom.

'This decision was made in an effort to begin our day as a fully inclusive and connected community,' she said. 'There are many emotions around (the pledge) and we want everyone in our school family to start their day in a positive manner.'

School officials said teachers and a K-5 leadership team will work with students over the next few months to create a school pledge everyone can say in the morning.

'This pledge will focus on students' civic responsibility to their school family, community, country and our global society,' Zelski said.

I’ve come to really despise the term “inclusive” whenever I hear it in modern life. It doesn’t mean what they intend it to mean.

Inclusive is just a code word for reverse discrimination and affirmative action. It is synonymous with diversity.

Wolf pack? Wolf pack? Oh, yes. A prison slang term, and not good one either.

I live on the edge of this gentrifying Grant Park gentrifyig area. My grandson had a choice to go to this charter or the public school. His mom chose the public school.

The charter school is run by arrogant white Bernie Sanders types. Only a token Black there. Most Blacks are in the public school, which is a failure. My grandson learns from family ... and internet.

Don’t blame the innocent for the woke.

The school's board chair blamed the backlash on "miscommunication and inconsistency in the rollout."

There was no miscommunication. They all knew what they were doing. However, what is 'inconsistency in the rollout'?

"In the past, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited during our all-school morning meeting," she said. "But at the start of the school year, the daily practice was moved to classrooms."

With the move back to the previous plan, students will be afforded the opportunity to say the pledge but will not be required to.

B.S.

I read all accounts from yesterday, it was not being "moved," it was being replaced.

'This pledge will focus on students' civic responsibility to their school family, community, country...

Isn't that exactly what the Pledge Of Allegiance does?

An Atlanta charter school is now walking back a plan

Translation: we’re gonna do this later, not announce it and tell the Kids to not tell Anybody.

It’s really kind of abstract that way.

A pledge to the Lord would make more sense, but it’s fallen out of legal favor to do that... at least as a teacher led thing. But it could still be student led.
