CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Some North Carolina elementary school teachers were initially told they would lose their jobs if they didn't pass a Math test they call difficult and unfair.
Teachers say they recently got a call from their school district informing them they have another year to pass the test. Hundreds of teachers have failed the test repeatedly. Teachers argue what's on the test has nothing to do with what they teach in a classroom for students in Kindergarten to 5th grade.
"Never in a million years would we even come close to teaching some of the topics on this test," veteran CMS teacher Krista Ricks said.

What???
“”Never in a million years would we even come close to teaching some of the topics on this test,””
Maybe, but nice to be more knowledgeable than your students ...
Some teachers chose that profession like it’s a ministry — they really care about the kids. Others, though, choose it because their original major was too tough and they wanted an easy teaching degree.

The practice test.
It’s not THAT hard for someone supposed to be college educated.
Basic HS math at the most.
I just looked at a sample test. I could pass the thing and I suck at math.
If anyone else is curious, there’s a link to the sample test in the story.
Having extensive experience with a university’s Education Department in N.C., mayn, and I mean many, of those student education majors STRUGGLE with the PRAXIS (both parts) having to retake it 2-3+ times to get a passing score, and now this as it relates to Math.....the K12 system is a joke as with arguably most education programs in preparing teachers to be......TEACHERS, not tards!
Maybe, but nice to be more knowledgeable than your students ...
It might be dependent on the grade level of the students.
Try taking the sample test yourself...:^)

It's not a slam-dunk.
Note to the district: Maybe you lot should hire for competency instead of just insisting upon a teaching certificate. Apparently they’ll give those to anyone.
Yabbut, numbers be racist.
It should be for a teacher worthy of the job.
My first supervisor out of college (we’re both EEs) said “Keep the mystery of science alive - support public education.”
Definitely applicable here.
The whiny teachers are correct in that a SJW doesn’t need to learn math, particularly when redistributing wealth.
If they’re white and male, take from them and give to someone that doesn’t look like them. Easy peasy.
I am a teacher & this is beyond humiliating.
From the linked article: “The fear is that good teachers could now go to South Carolina and Virginia where the test in question is not administered.”
No, the good teachers will pass the test. The bad teachers will fail and go to SC and VA. BTW, I looked at the typical test questions. Nothing anyone with a high school education couldn’t pass.
If I were a parent in that district I would be livid. And then I’d put my kids in private school. Or homeschool.
Bookmark Math Test.
THEY SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING IF THEY’RE THAT STUPID.
PERIOD.
