A former East Bay college philosophy professor who was charged with four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury, has taken a deal resulting in three years of probation for an attack at a Berkeley protest last year, court records reveal.
Eric Clanton had been linked by police to violent assaults with a metal bike lock during a “free speech” rally in Berkeley on April 15, 2017. Before his arrest, Clanton had been “outed” online, on the website 4chan, as someone who used a bike lock to strike a man in the head. The assault was captured in a video clip (below) that drew widespread attention and anger after it was posted on YouTube.
The NYT will be calling.

Soooo, in keeping with the “Equal Protection Under the Law” concept, if someone were to bash the professor with a bike lock, they too would get probation???

If anyone attacked any of THEM it would be attempted murder and they’d throw you in the worst prison they could possibly find with no parole.

I don’t know why Trump hasn’t attacked this issue. Education costs have risen higher than anything - and the issue would be a real winner for him. It effects the middle class more than anything.
Moreover, its as full of nasty socialists as well as rich elitists who would make excellent public punching bags.
If he pleaded guilty, he has no defense in a civil suit.

Notice how Berkelyside frames it as he was “outed” - as if it was something private that should never have been revealed. As if “4chan” was at least partially in the wrong for exposing him. “Outing” is never good in their world. I hope there is a big civil suit.

He should be doing 5 to 10 years hard time minimum.

After watching the video and the guy essentially swinging a mace, I would have thought jail time was appropriate.
He did it with complete malice and forethought.
Planned to severely injured another person and did.
He hurt someone who presented zero danger to Him or anyone else, with absolutely no provocation.
He attacked 6 other people as well.
Probation for an planned intentional act?

The victim should now take this to civil court and sue his ass into oblivion for medical bills, emotional stress etc.
