There’s no doubt now. The race for Congress in Eastern Washington is for real.
Out of more than 120,000 votes counted, Republican U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers had a lead of a little more than 500 votes in Tuesday’s primary over Democrat Lisa Brown.
The contest, between the high-ranking congressional Republican and a Democrat with years of experience in state political leadership, has drawn national interest and big spending as the parties vie for support in the first midterm election since President Donald Trump took office.
Buoyed by the down-ticket performance of other Democrats, a beaming Brown took the stage before a crowd of 150-plus Democratic supporters at the Carpenters Hall in Spokane’s Logan Neighborhood.
Somebody is confused as to exactly which GOPeers are conservative.
Cathy McMorris Rodgers is as conservative as Paul Ryan, John McCain, Marco Rubio, Jeff Flake, Flimsey Grahamnesty, Martha McSallycain, etc.

The primary here is a top two, meaning whichever two gain the most votes advances on to the general.
It is possible even to see two members of the same party opposing each other in the general, even though it doesn’t happen too often.

McMorris Rodgers is in the House.
The GOP is probably going to gain at least 4 Senate seats.
We need more to offset Romney, McCain (or his daughter), and the female Senators.

If Cruz would concentrate on being a good Senator for Texas he could be a great one.
He’ll probably win, but he’s only in trouble because of his convention antics. He told people to vote their conscience, not for the Republican nominee, at the Republican convention.
