President Trump on Wednesday boasted that all five candidates he endorsed in this week's elections won their races, even as contests in Ohio and Kansas were too close to call.
The president declared victory in a brief tweet: "5 for 5!"
Trump sent the message from his New Jersey golf club, where he is spending the week on vacation.
Troy Balderson, a Trump-backed Republican running for a vacant House seat in Ohio, held a narrow lead over his upstart Democratic challenger after Tuesday night's voting.
The same goes for Republican Kris Kobach, who was less than 200 votes ahead of incumbent Gov. Jeff Colyer (R) in Kansas' GOP gubernatorial primary.
Even if both candidates pull out victories, the close results are not encouraging for Trump and the Republican Party.
Balderson's district is solidly Republican district, and has been in the GOP's hands since 1983. But Republican groups were forced to spend millions of dollars to fend off Democrat Danny O'Connor and Trump made a last-minute stop in the district to stage a rally for Balderson.
In Kansas, Trump's endorsement did not give Kobach a decisive edge like it did in Georgia's gubernatorial primary and a South Carolina House primary where it propelled his hand-picked candidates to victory.
Still, Trump's team sought to portray the results as clear-cut wins.
"Clearly, the presidents support was pivotal in GOP primaries yesterday," Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale said in a statement. "President Trump is delivering the right kind of leadership, results, and inspiration to unify our party at just the right time to keep America winning."
Trump-backed candidates pulled off two wins in Michigan, where John James won the GOP Senate primary and Bill Schuette won the party's nod for governor. Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley (R) won the state's Senate primary.
Either Republican/Conservative voters believed it was an guaranteed win and didn't bother to vote, Democrats were able to energize and mobilize their base, or both.
We can't take any act of voting for granted.
Democrats are out for revenge.
I don't believe we should expect a Red Wave. We have to MAKE it happen by getting our people to the polls and voting.
5-for-5 yet press says “Not encouraging.” Yeah, right.
“5 for 5!” WILL BE THE TRUTH IN A FEW DAYS WHEN THE COUNT IS VERIFIED....
Trump’s right... it’s a WIN!
Jordan Fabian, the author of this piece, is desperately trying to cope post his way out of reality.
I have NEVER not bothered to vote because
- my candidate had little or no chance of winning
or
- my candidate was a “guaranteed” win
Anyone that doesn’t vote for either of those reasons deserves the government they get. Really frosts me.
Also, anyone that doesn’t believe the Rats will be highly motivated and get the turnout in November is deluded. And the fraud? A new record.
<><> the Democrats' constant bleating about a "blue wave".....
<><>Obama and Michele both out there "inspiring" the vote.
<><> DNC chair Tom Perez sending out the DNC's Aztec Princess to rally the latino vote.......
<><> believing "resistance to Trump" was the key to Democrats victory.
<><>Maxine Waters telling us Obama had a huge data base on Americans to be used in Democrat Campaigns.
(Maybe Dems are saving it for a "rainy day"---ROTFLOL).
The media (including Fox News) is falling over itself today to re-write last night’s victories.
The truth is... unless they manage to steal the close elections, we won everything.
But, to them, this is a sign we’re in DIRE danger come November - and, uh, the RATS got a “moral victory” and . . . well, there may be a woman muslim in Congress! . . . um, and Occasional-Kotex’s socialist buddies lost everywhere, but she’s just INCREDIBLE, isn’t she? And, by the way, Trump is lying for taking credit for any of this and should just resign because this only shows how razor thin his support is, and we all know everything good going on today is just because of Obama and, by the way, did you hear some Republican Congressman was charged with insider trading? That proves everything. And . . . shut up. Rosie O’Piglet is singing.
Seriously. The spin is DEMENTED. If they DID acknowledge Trump’s people winning, though, I guess they’d find a way to blame it all on Russian bots or racist old white guys anyway.
There is no ‘moral victory’ in politics...or football for that matter.
There is a ‘W’ or an ‘L’.
The democrats blew a huge effort getting out early voting in Ohio.
The Kobach win is a positive sign of Trump’s popularity. Kansans are notorious for voting for the incumbent, which Kobach isn’t. But also, the ‘moderate republican’ usually wins out here. Kobach ran as anything but moderate, running TV ads touting his support of Trump and his immigration goals. Seeing Kobach win here indicates that Trump still has very strong support, even where ‘moderates’ often win out.
Just wondering if the August date of the congressional election in Ohio would work to the detriment of the GOP candidate, because of the numbers of potential voters out of town on vacation or less than enthusiastic about going out to polling places in very hot weather conditions (as compared to a traditional November general election).
Democrats, by contrast, are more inclined to use air conditioned buses and/or bribes to get their people around - to multiple polling sites(?) (That's their vaunted "ground game" that the MSM likes to brag about.)
LOL!
Just trying to figure out who the "Aztec Princess" is. could it be Ocasio-Cortez? Could it be Elizabeth Warren? Or could it be someone else I'm not thinking of?
I beg to differ that it is nothing to celebrate. He won plain and simple, just more ‘The Hill’ sour grapes.

Well, could be Elizabeth Warren. Heard that she had a guacamole dip and tortilla chip recipe in her famous best seller, " Pow Wow Chow", gotta be some high cheeked Aztec blood in there somewhere.
Complacency...
Apparently they fell short of stealing the congressional election in Ohio yesterday, but they might have pulled it off had Ohio been a 'Rat-controlled state (contrast with Coleman vs. Franken in Minnesota, 2008(?))
Occasional-Kotex

As usual, reality is somewhere in between ... yes, the Dems are going to turn out and Trump supporters are going to have work hard to turn out the vote again.
However, campaigns are just getting started ... you don’t see *real* campaigning until after Labor Day weekend.
Also, the media is going to do everything in its power to get people to tune in to election results. It’s a big night for them ... they tend to capture lots of new viewers. They won’t get new viewers if it’s not sold as “too close to call”.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
It ain't over 'ill it's over.
Kobach was best known as Kansas AG for his fight against election fraud and cheating!
