As for the propaganda effect of TV, it’s there, and it’s why the rural purge occurred. Can’t have those hick programs portraying hicks in a positive light. Have to get rid of them so that we can portray the joys of ‘successful’ urban lifestyles. Out with the Clampetts, in with the Mary Tyler Moores (childless singles) and Murphy Browns (you know where that went)...
That didn't come out until after Hogan was canceled, and Bob was reduced to traveling around the country doing dinner theater (among other activities varied and sundry).
I love Hogan's Heroes. Bought the complete series DVD. Still cracks me up. Bob Crane's Hogan is the most insouciant character since Bugs Bunny.
