Actually this is already law. Anyone who has sponsored an immigrant can recall the affidavit of Support form which states that the immigrant must have sufficient resources to avoid the us of any means tested public benefits.
and that sponsor is in trouble if he or she renegs on the promise to support the IMMIGRANT...if the IMMIGRANT goes on gov bennies the gov is suppose to ask the sponsor why and demand an answer...the sponsor is suppose to be held responsible...
What happened to that ???
