WASHINGTON The Trump administration is expected to issue a proposal in coming weeks that would make it harder for legal immigrants to become citizens or get green cards if they have ever used a range of popular public welfare programs, including Obamacare, four sources with knowledge of the plan told NBC News.
The move, which would not need congressional approval, is part of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller's plan to limit the number of migrants who obtain legal status in the U.S. each year.
Details of the rulemaking proposal are still being finalized, but based on a recent draft seen last week and described to NBC News, immigrants living legally in the U.S. who have ever used or whose household members have ever used Obamacare, children's health insurance, food stamps and other benefits could be hindered from obtaining legal status in the U.S.

Laws about foreign nationals and welfare and such are still on the books. Legal immigrants cannot receive benefits until they have been in the United States for more than five years, illegals not at all. Ignored by this Administration as with the past several.
I totally agree with that. We dont need people from outside taking funds we need to care for our own.
If I went to any foreign country and tried to stay there without being able to support myself, I would not be allowed to. They would send me back to the United States. I was born here. I’m America’s problem.
Oh no! Not that! What's happening to our Disneyland Republic? Can't we all just be friends? (Except you white people of course)

public welfare programs, including Obamacare
Wait ... Wut?
Slow down the rate of naturalization of new citizens = slow down the growth of Democrat voter rolls.
In the big picture, it makes perfect sense.
Fun Fact: You have to prove the ability to earn at least $38,000/year to sustain yourself in order to get permission to live in Mexico.
The media realize that people rarely read past the headline. This one is a perfect example. Without reading the article, John Q. Public would have an unfavorable opinion about Trump.
But those of us who DO read on, we see this nugget ... “if they have ever used a range of popular public welfare programs”.
Hey, I don’t have a problem with it being made difficult on those that come here without becoming citizens or obtaining legal residency and then milk the taxpayers of our hard earned dollars.
If you have ever experienced a feral cat population explosion caused by well intentioned people feeding the cats, killing kittens does not seem like saucy a bad thing
30% of legal immigrants should return like they did 100 years ago. Those ones couldn’t hack it.
Bwahahahaha . (Karl Rove’ ‘magnificent b@st@rd’ is soooo over-rated.)
Just the proposal (or rumor of it) will set off the Left, the ‘compassionate’ RINOs and all the ‘right enemies’.
I say, go for it. Go BIG, President Trump.
"four"?, well that makes it true I suppose.
Citizenship should come at a VERY HIGH PRICE
Speak, read and write the language
Pass intense history exam . . . esp re wars Americans fought and died for
Pass intense civics exam . . . including an understanding of the illegal roles of “activist” judges and voter fraud
If you have ever experienced a feral cat population explosion caused by well intentioned people feeding the cats, killing kittens does not seem like saucy a bad thing
The feel good story of the day! Winning!
Good. American citizenship should be for those who contribute to America, both the country as a whole and working Americans in particular. We don’t need more parasites. Deport all illegals. Deport all legal immigrants and asylum seekers who use welfare - including Obamacare. No exceptions.
Keep it up and youre re-elected.
Good. If you want to immigrate to other countries, it is very standard to have to be able to prove that you would not be a financial burden, and can provide for yourself. Abusing a welfare program would be prime evidence that you cannot.
