A judge agreed to appoint an independent “firewall” lawyer to review pretrial evidence related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s case against Russians who allegedly interfered in the 2016 election.
The evidence will be screened for possible national security issues before it is turned over to a Kremlin-linked defendant, Bloomberg News reported Monday.
U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich approved the request for the counsel because Mueller is concerned with providing evidence to Yevgeny Prigozhin, a wealthy Russian businessman and longtime associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Department of Justice’s legal team warned against Prigozhin gaining access to “sensitive” evidence.
That evidence would include details about the government’s investigation, identities of people and companies that are cooperating and personal information on Americans who were victims of identity theft, the outlet noted.
Prigozhin and his firm, >B>Concord Management and Consulting LLC., were indicted as part of Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling during the presidential election.
Concord, through attorney Eric Dubelier, pled not guilty to one count of defrauding the U.S. government. It is the only Russian entity — out of three — to respond to the charges filed by Mueller's team earlier this year.
The company provides food services to the Kremlin and Putin reportedly frequents other restaurants he owns.
The Russian businessman has been dubbed “Putin’s chief.”

Should be that if the defense can’t see the evidence then the court and jury cannot either. If the prosecution can provide the evidence then they should drop the case and apologize to the defendant.

My impression is that many people here, and in Session’s constituency, had/have faith in him because as a senator he voiced support for issues that they believe in. That’s entirely understandable, but life is complex, as are people, and he can say those things and still be a self-promoting political animal. It’s just a sad and disappointing reality.

Did we use a “measured response” after the attack on Pearl Harbor? Hell no! We declared war on the whole Japanese Empire and the Axis Alliance in Europe, and then smashed them to bits.
Doolittle and his bombers didn’t deliver a “measured response” when the bombed Tokyo, nor did we give a measured response at Hiroshima and Nagaski, Dresden, Ploiesti, Normandy, the Bulge, or at Anzio.
NO MORE MEASURED RESPONSES REGARDING CORRUPT MUELLER AND HIS DEMOCRAT AUTHORITARIAN MINIONS. All out war until they are defeated and jailed.
Remember that Muller is supposed to be Independent.
