Emerald Isle, N.C. A woman from Kentucky drowned Sunday while on vacation in Emerald Isle, according to officials.
In a Facebook post, the Town of Emerald Isle stated that Donna Sue Miller, 49, became caught in a rip current with her friend and her friend's 9-year-old daughter.
According to the post, the three were swimming near The Islander Hotel around 7 p.m. when the drowning occured. Officials say Miller was found facedown in the water and was carried to the shore by onlookers. The others made it safely to shore.

I didn’t say mine was personally a reasonably rational fear....just admitting to a personal fault that would need to be over come....should I ever find myself trapped in a riptide current!
Most are but the southern OBX are hard to get to and you can have the whole place to yourself in the middle of the summer.
I’ve heard a lot about the outer banks and would love to go.
Getting the spouse to go anywhere during baseball season is like pulling teeth. Before or after baseball, it’s another sports season that has been attended religiously but not by me.
I’ll have to go by myself someday.
