The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce previously said it would never remove a star over backlash.
The West Hollywood City Council will vote Monday night on a resolution urging the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to permanently remove Donald Trumps walk of fame star.
The marker, which was unveiled in 2007, has been vandalized numerous times and completely destroyed twice to date.
"The City Council will consider adopting a resolution urging the Los Angeles City Council and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to remove President Donald J. Trumps star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, due to his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country," reads the agenda item for the Monday meeting.
The staff report for the resolution lists numerous reasons for the matter, including the separation of children from their parents at the border, the denial of the impacts from climate change on the word, Trump's treatment of transgendered individuals and the denial of findings from the intelligence community of Russian interference in the 2016 election, among more.
When critics called for the removal of Bill Cosby's star from the walk of fame amid multiple sexual assault claims leveled against the comedian, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said it did not remove stars over backlash and cited historical landmark status.
Trump's star was most recently destroyed in late July after 24-year-old Austin Mikel Clay allegedly took a pickaxe to it in the early morning hours. For his actions, he was booked on felony vandalism and jailed on a $20,000 bail. He has since been released.
Before the July destruction, 53-year-old James Lambert Otis was taped destroying the star with a jackhammer and a pickaxe. He later pleaded no contest to one felony count of vandalism. That was in 2016.
Otis told The Hollywood Reporter he intended to help Clay with is legal troubles.
Don't even ask!
not good.
I tell you, the fascism and hatred for truth, this Republic and the American way is a danger for this country.
Ah. There you go.
“Never interfere when your enemy is making a mistake”
It’s said to be a modern variation of a quote from Napoleon. The earliest version being:
In that case, said Napoleon, let us wait twenty minutes; when the enemy is making a false movement we must take good care not to interrupt him. - Qouted From 1836 History Books on “French Revolution” about a Battle in 1805.
Our grandkids and beyond will see these kinds of reports and wonder what kind of violent insane nutjobs were allowed to walk around loose. Of course, they may well bring back the insane asylums by then so the nutjobs will be cared for instead of living on the streets or holding violent, destructive protests.
“Hollywood Blvd. has always been the dregs. When I was a star-struck kid, it was horrible walking on that street to look at all the wonderful stars on the sidewalk.”
Years ago, I hired a HS classmate at a company where I was their principal engineer to do installations of systems we designed. We sent him to LA to do a job and he found the cheapest place to stay ( on a weekly basis) was a “no tell motel” on Hollywood Blvd. that normally rented it’s rooms “by the hour” if you get my drift. He said it took some getting used to to have mirrors on the ceiling, an unusual paint scheme, and waking up to a “naked skydiver” heading his way!
thanks PB, I like FR because there are so many people more educated than me. It is like talking to a renaissance crowd. So many people with so much knowledge. Every time I log on, I learn something.
:)
You get 10 respect points for your clarity. (which are worth more than brownie points).
Thanks for your response. :)
Theres an awful lot of leftist stars on that Boulevard. Just sayin
This guy is a multimillionaire heir to the Otis elevator fortune. He was fine a few thousand dollars and 20 days of community service in his plea deal.
The new vandal has been bailed out and will likely suffer no consequences as a precedent exists.
1) if Milo or Ann Coulter or Ben Shapiro or a GOP midterm candidate is scheduled to speak, disrupt, make bomb threats and riot a little until the city declares: “
we must take seriously the safety of our precious citizens and students in the face of the danger of violence so we are cancelling permission for the speech.”
2) if a statue, plaque or Walk of Fame Star upsets anyone of a different political opinion, then deny the person the honor and trash the item so it won’t further upset people who hate the person.
3) if Alex Jones or Michael Savage or Rush state an opinion not allowed by the local liberals label it hate speech and get all sponsors to drop them, hire lawyers to make expensive lawsuits to bankrupt them, and then remove them from radio syndication and networks, cable TV, and Facebook and Twitter and I-Tunes.
Trump should declare it federal property and post a coupla Marine guards there 24/7 for the interem.
SHould quell the vandals.
Idiots. Common sense would be to wait and see whether Donald Trump ends up being the greatest President ever. But liberals do not have common sense.
That’s funny!
I haven’t been on that street in about ten years - I like to eat at Musso & Frank’s.
You are exactly right... I have been doing most of this...cut the cord...shop local... if I find myself buying on amazon I check the honey app to see if it is cheaper anywhere else on the net... it usually is.
KeVin SpaCeys Is NexT tHen?
Violence works for them. Pffft!
Why was the Trump star created to begin with? Was his Apprentice show that big? I’m a Trump voter and I support Trump. Just wondering if every actor who ever did one acting job gets a Hollywood star.
