Police in Berkeley, Calif., arrested at least 17 people Sunday as several hundred people gathered in the city for planned dueling protests that sparked fears of broader violence.
Two groups of alt-right protesters had announced plans for a "No to Marxism" rally at the city's Civic Center Park earlier in the week. That prompted plans for a "Sweep Out The Facists" march and counter-rally that drew hundreds of people downtown.

It looks like the same pattern develops over and over. Some group on the right announces a demonstration of some sort, then leftist groups organize to prevent the rightist group from carrying out their peaceful protest, then clashes take place.
If the relevant governmental bodies would take a hard stance against allowing the leftist counter-protesters from disrupting most every demonstration by a rightist group, I don’t think we’d have these violent clashes.

Unmasking those leftists has a calming effect, as it requires them to think about the consequences of their actions. It is also why Berkeley will not permit it.

I watched some live streams of the event. There were more than a few antifa, there were hundreds in fact. They were assaulting the Patriot prayer group, scuffling with police, beating up trash cans and smashing windows, the usual stuff. I don’t know why Fox news is not identifying them as antifa in this article.

The Gate article said that the Proud Boys canceled their demonstration, but that the counterdemonstration which was called Sweep Out the Fascists decided to go ahead and hold their counterdemonstration. Apparently a few Proud Boys and a few antifa showed up today
